Cute turf roofed cottages in Iceland.

Morning all. Overcast and breezy and threatened with rain again ... 10 minutes of showers really don't do much good when we still have the temperatures we are having! We would be lucky if we could fill a shot glass so far this month, forget about water barrels.

So pleased you are back to normal Upsy and enjoyed the movie. This past week we watched Sherwood and The Reckoning about that horrid Jimmy Saville ... I couldn't stand his looks nor voice ... let alone the rest!!!

Nothing planned that I know of here.

Morning Vicky, yes you could definitely do with more rain I know. Looking at your forecast over here it looks horrendous but I'm very well aware that forecast can't really be believed in.:nonofinger:

Brave you...I can't bring myself to watch the Reckoning, always disliked him and even more so now . I don't feel I need to know anymore about him. He''s gone...goodbye to bad rubbish.

Hope you get the rain you need today.
      Take care.xx

Not sure what you are looking at, but I am about as far South as you can get, 20 minutes from the sea ...

          Good day
It is 49f and fairly clear of clouds. The guessers say it will be a typical cool autumn day.

@Upsydaisy I'm glad your headache is gone. I must have skimmed over a few posts as I wasn't aware that you had a procedure requiring stitches. I am glad one pain is gone and hope the other isn't far behind.

I hope @Michael Hewett, you are not @Upsydaisy in healing.

I am going to have a very loose day. Mainly because I simply cannot decide what the heck I want to do!

Well, I will make of doing a rain dance for you @Victoria. The guessers say that tonight the clouds will move in and drop a bunch here but it would have been nice a few weeks ago and before it got so cool that the water won't help things strengthen up for their journey through winter.

          Cheers :coffee:

Morning all, Thursday, 47 degrees here, 8:30AM

@Michael Hewett , when I have something to lift heavy from the hardware store I find some cute guy and use the old lady card, works every time. Many years ago, probably 45 years I bought one of those put together cabinets from IKEA, that box was too heavy to totally lift to bring in the house. So I had to tear the box apart and take pieces in to the house, put it together then, still have it today, works great.

I used Google Earth to look at your town, @Victoria , really neat style of buildings/houses.

Picture I am attaching is actually my back property one of the winters. Today, out to garden some, and more house tiding up, tossing. Husband going to his "favorite" auction house today, the owner and him are buds. Hope he does not buy anything, we need nothing.
Have a good day all. 4 blue jeans.jpg

@Victoria, neat area to live in. Was that house there due to a "worker" living close by? And when orange trees blossom, does the flower smell like oranges. Just a thought, what chemicals do they use to spray all the orange trees? Thanks.

This was the worker's house! The person who owns the land behind us and across the lane lives up where the curve is. Well, it is an old couple and their son, aged 50-60 something who maintains the land. To the front/side bottom right corner is another owner. We didn't want land.

It is heaven at orange blossom time. As we can keep doors and windows open most of the year, it is a permanent air freshener. These are year round oranges, which are very sweet and juicy, can have blossom, green fruit and orange fruit at the same time.

Sorry, I don't know what they use on the trees.

Hi Vicky I've only just got back home and seen your post. I can't bring up this morning's forecast obviously as it's now past but it showed winds of 45-50 miles ph highlighted in the black circles. Now it shows you're on the tail end of the storm and things are about to calm down a bit for this evening.

@Victoria If they spray something that is not intended to be inhaled by humans into lungs then that should be an issue.

Over here, about 20 mins, we have Longwood Gardens, it is a fairly well known garden. Lots of different folks tour it from many different countries. Anyway, the gardens have many cottages circling the vast acres where the head garden personal lives, and other staff.

Most of Algarve is orange groves ... or almonds ... or Avocados .... or Goji berries ... or other fruit. I have never heard of issues with insecticide and I started coming here in 1984 and owned since 1988.

                          Good morning everyone.

Yesterday's weather here wasn't as bad as they initially predicted, we had a few spits and spots but that was all and it felt very mild..in fact I'll go as far to say...it felt quite warm at times!!

We even had our weather warning removed at one time too :).....only to return later as an overnight warning instead.

The dreaded stitches removal went well with no issues. I've been told to go easy and avoid knocking or over stretching the area for the next 6 weeks.

We had a nice lunch out in town. It seemed unusually quiet in and around the city centre. Next week will undoubtedly be different as it'll be the school's half term holiday break.

I haven't decided yet if we are going to visit my brother this morning or not....I will check the weather nearer the time we have to leave to catch the bus. He has been visited by our younger sister this week, so at least the budgie has been fed and watered. If we don't go today then we will go tomorrow.

Can you imagine trying to mow that grass roof Vicky....a tad challenging I would think!!:heehee:

Michael how did your day go yesterday, did you get the Tulip bulbs?

Lori how did your day pan out in the end....what did you end up doing?

redstar good to know you also hang the laundry out in all weather like I do. It looks funny when it freezes on the line, but brings back happy memories of helping my Mum battle with frozen bedding!!!:roflol:.

I hope you all have an enjoyable day doing things that make you happy.

Good morning @Upsydaisy, I'm glad your stitches were taken out but be careful and do as advised by the professional medical people.

Yes I got my tulips, they were the species ones that I'd seen there last time and they had plenty left.
I also got some species Narcissi, can't remember their name at the moment.

I like to peg clothes out too, weather permitting, i.e. if it's dry and above freezing point.

I must carry on with my card designs today, or it will be too late !
                            Enjoy your day xx

I like this cottage and locale.

Upsu, funny, I thought about grass cutting too! Guess a ladder and electric shears ... but not a job for me I might add as I dislike ladders.

We finally got a little rain yesterday afternoon with a burst at three-ish then showers throughout the night giving us a precious 11mm, but our temps have now dropped below average, only 16c now going to 22c.

J meeting John today and friend Ian back from Canada (he is Canadian/Toronto area). I plan to sort out my dresser, two long drawers and 2 short, plus my costume jewellery. I have about50/60 elastic bracelets of various stones and leather and wood and have been naughty just plopping them on the dresser rather than putting them on their holders (tubular velvet things), same with earrings.

Have a good day all whatever you are up to.

Morning all. Its Friday, rained a bit overnight. almost 8:30AM.
@Victoria , I just finished moving summer clothes out of my drawers and winter into my drawers, when I do I have a bag near by to toss in what I don't want anymore to be off to the donation center. Yep, the top of my dresser gets a little messed up, have to arrange that also.

So was thinking about "time", when I worked outside of the house full time--40+ hours, the evenings /weekends were jammed into the cleaning house, cooking, errands, cooking, gardening etc. Now that I have the 40 hours back to me its amazing, but enlightening to learn to fill it with special stuff. And that is my issue, have to figure out what "special stuff" I want to fill it with. Thought by now I'd have found something. And maybe just "being" is special enough.

                                Have a grand day all.
