Many years ago, I had a go at making some beetroot wine.
At the time, I was working on the North Sea. So to ensure the trap didn't dry out while I was away, I use liquid paraffin instead of water.
Something went VERY wrong. When I got back, the trap was empty and the liquid paraffin was on top of the wine.
I didn't have the bottle to try it, as it looked quite disgusting, colourwise.

Beetroot wine starts a lovely colour, but the colour is not stable and over a period of time goes a brown colour, flavour is ok though.

Give it a go or you'll never find out.

I had a glut of cucumbers one year which smelled amazing being made but once finished was only good to clean drains with.
