Scary, yes, but how could the person who took the picture know when to take it? These events take place randomly & only last a second or two. I wonder if it's a fake picture? :dunno:

I'll stick with my own thoughts...someone was taking a pic of the beautiful vista and unfortunately got caught in a thunderstorm. Very fortunately for them they seized the opportunity to snap a fabulous pic and remain a safe distance away.:dbgrtmb:

I should have copied the article. A woman was out walking in ... some mid-Western State ... when this happened ... not a fake.

With the rise of AI it's difficult to be entirely sure if what you are seeing is the real thing! I thought it was a fantastic shot but that same reaction made me wonder if it's true or false!

I did see that picture a few days ago somewhere and I thought at the time was it real or not, apparently it is supposed to be real, but I dont like lots of the so called modern photography, its not real in many cases, just altered images.

Even the Countryfile calendar competition is not about taking good photos anymore, its about who has the best software to turn a photo into something unreal.

Portuguese dog Bobi, the oldest dog in the world, has died

The oldest dog in the world, Bobi, born on May 11th, 1992, died this Saturday, at the ripe old age of 31 years old.

A statement released on the internet by veterinarian Peter Dobias said, “My dear friends, today I learned very sad news: Bobi, the oldest dog in the world, passed away on October 21st, 2023. His owner, Leonel, was just six years old when Bobi was born in a small shed in the backyard, and they had a fantastic adventures together. Over the last few months, Leonel and I have been in contact. Deep down, we knew the inevitable would happen, even if that didn't make it any easier. When I met Bobi and Leonel in May, for Bobi’s 31st birthday, I was deeply touched by their love, connection and wealth of wisdom about longevity.”

Also at the birthday event in May was Karen Becker, an Australian veterinarian, who also wrote on her wall that Bobi, a “sweet boy gained his wings”.
“Despite living longer than all dogs in history, his 11,478 days on earth would never be enough for those who loved him,” she added.

The death of Bobi, whose name is inscribed in the Guinness World Records since his 30th birthday, was also mourned on the Instagram profile of Le Terrier Studio, a photography studio for dogs, which photographed the beautiful boy.

Yes I read that on Tuesday, he died last Saturday 21October, his owner announced his death last Monday. He was 217 in dog years! He was never put on a lead and ate the same food as his owners. It sounds like he had a brilliant life and was so very much loved by all who knew him.
Enjoy your well earned rest now Bobi .:doggieshmooze:

Now I see he was a purebred Rafeiro do Alentejo from Conqueiros, Leiria, a village of 314.
He sure looks like a well cared for dog, even a bit chunky! :heehee::doggieshmooze:

This tiny Valencian town witnessed Coca-Cola's birth!

The formula of Coca-Cola is still a mystery. However, its origin has been disclosed in the last few years. And every hint leads us to a village in Valencia, Aielo de Malferit, where a digestive syrup was commercialised as Anís Celestial (‘Celestial Anise’). This dark beverage was prepared from kola nut and coca leaves from Peru in a distillery that remains open in the present: Destilerías Ayelo. At the time, it was actually declared as official supplier of the royal household.

This distillery has come a long way. This drink was supposedly first introduced in the state of Philadelphia among others in 1885. And one year later the world saw the drink that we know now, which is suspiciously similar to the former. Its pioneer was a pharmacist from Atlanta called John Pemberton. And although it hasn’t been directly proven that the drink from Valencia inspired the actual one, relevant dates support this theory. People at Aielo de Malferit defend the obvious link between the two beverages.

When Coca-Cola became popular in the 1950’s, the company was required to buy the patent to this distillery, a fact that was officially reported. And since that moment, the Anís Celestial that brought many gold medals to the company has been prepared with a certain amount of alcohol.

Located in the south of Valencia, Aielo de Malferit houses around 5000 citizens. Life in this area dates back to the 13th century. And although it is famous for its 120 year-old distillery, one of the oldest in Spain, there is so much more to see in this location. For instance, you can enjoy plenty of hiking routes.
