There are 3 types of these "cacti" (which live on trees in tropical forests & not in dry desert places), One flowers at about Easter time & therefore called "Easter Cactus", Easter cactus | Description, Distribution, & Facts

Then there's the so-called "Christmas cactus" which is 2 different types "Holiday cactus/Thanksgiving cactus" Thanksgiving cactus | plant
    which flowers around November.

Then there's the "Christmas cactus" which flowers around Xmas/New Year,
Christmas cactus | Description & Facts

I've grown all 3 over the years but no longer have the "Christmas cactus". The Easter cactus flowers every year for me.

      .
If you look closely at the leaves of Christmas/Holiday Cactus you will see that they are jagged whereas those on the Easter Cactus don't have these jagged leaves but

The flowers are also totally different, those of Xmas/Holiday Cactus are longer & extend downwards whereas those of Easter Cactus are open, daisy style flowers.

These cacti are rhipsalidopsis (for Easter cactus) and schlumbergera (for Christnas cactus).

I've just got to get it through the winter @Balc, I've lost a couple during the winter in the past, I'm not going to give this so much warmth and hope to get it through reasonably dry.

I have a Sundaville Pink which really struggled through this Summer's heat. They survive our "Winters".

Some Cyclamens which I am surprised to see have not only survived but are also producing many flowers ...

I've got a whole row of them, all with buds. These are only the first ones to open. I don't usually get such success with them.

I have a Bird of Paradise that I've been growing from seed in the kitchen. It must be about 5 years since I sowed the seeds my son brought me back from Spain. There were only 4 seeds in the packet but only 1 germinated.

As I was told it would take years to flower I treated it like a foliage plant that one doesn't expect to flower, like a Rubber Tree plant so you can imagine my delight & surprise when about a month ago a new "leaf" began to emerge. It wes just a long thin stem that seemed to be taking a long time for the leaf to unfurl at first. After a couple of weeks I hardly began to hold out the hope that it might be a flower stem!

I expect the bud that's forming to open in the New Year. I can't show you a picture at the moment because I'm writing this on my phone & don't have any photos of it on here but I'll upload a photo of it from my computer later in the day.
