Hello, I hope everyone had a good nights sleep.

More rain is on the cards so not too sure what will and will not get done in the garden today. :noidea:

If it turns out bad then I'll continue with my wardrobe sorting out .

I also need to make a start on making this years Christmas Tree decoration for my great nephews. They are both now 6 years old and I have knitted them one or two every year.

    Have an enjoyable day.

Morning all. An early start here as it is J's Physio so I will come back later and finish chatter. It is lightly drizzling.

Okay, I am back. Yesterday and the doc. He looked at X-ray and there is an anomaly so they made an appointment for him to see the Dentist on Monday (for what I don't know) and then he will go back to the doc ... they are about 15-20 minutes apart. He took full bloods including Diabetes, Prostrate, Cholesterol, etc, etc. Results may show reasons for Sugar spikes and tiredness.

I don't think so. J would live in total darkness given the option. I have great difficulty convincing him to open the bedroom shutters in the Summertime as he abhores the sun coming in. He sleeps with a pillow over his face, even when he snoozes in the sofa!

There is a story about his late sleeping. I was working at Hozelock as Personnel & Pensions Administrator. The factories could not get enough staff for peak season so asked the office staff if they would like to work, but paid at their hourly rate not factory rates. I volunteered along with half a dozen others. M-F at 5pm I would change into jeans and tee shirt and walked over to the factory where I worked til 9.30pml I got home at 9.45pm and had to prepare dinner. S&S I worked from 5am to noon. When I got home at 12.45pm I would have to wake J up so I could change the linen before I made lunch. Then I had to do the remaining laundry, clean the house, do the garden then prepare dinner. After a week I had enough and told him he had to be up and do some laundry before I got home. I only did it for four or six weeks as I was shattered.. To this day he calls lunch "breakfast" and when he eats lunch out and the food arrives he announces (to my dismay) "Ah, breakfast!" which he has ... with a beer or two!

There is a rule here ... never ring the house before 10am because J might be sleeping. And he gets annoyed because you can guarantee the phone rings whilst he is having his afternoon snooze between 3 and 4+ ... I tell him that most of the population is not sleeping at that time. J has never been a doer.

        Moan over.

Oh my gosh Vicky.....:yikes:!! He's lucky you stuck around. I just couldn't put up with that I don't think.

Hubs has noticeably slowed down now but that is due to his age I think. He was always on the go and people were often shocked when they realised how old he was. I think I mentioned it to you that I first became aware that his age had caught up with him last Autumn. I know I'm not always very sympathetic , especially when I'm having a flare up with my joints ( as I seem to be having now) . He seems happier cooking and washing up and ,like he is doing now, going out and doing the grocery shop, while I attend our garden at this time of year .He is much happier making and being creative out in the garden but not so keen on tidying, cutting back preparing plants for overwintering and keeping up with the leaf fall and acorn bombardment!!
I do moan and undoubtedly will again but feel deep down I can see and feel he is beginning to struggle.
I get a tad cross because he will not even discuss ideas of moving to a smaller place.
            So.....:noidea:

Morning all. Thursday. Up early at 6AM. now 7:15 Am . really want to do some tasks, but have to do only quiet ones as husband still asleep. Chilly outside.
Husband got a message from one of his nephews, that lives in California, he's one of the coaches for the Hockey Team--Ducks, anyway, he will be in town, Philly, so they are meeting for dinner Friday somewhere near Philly. That's good for hubby.

Working in darkness, @Victoria , in my early years, age about 20 to 25, I was on the overnight shift at a hospital, and went to college during the day. Arranging classes as I could to control certain needed sleep time. I'd get to to work at 11PM leave at 7AM and drive to classes, get home and sleep. Or sometime, I could sleep right after work, then go to later classes. Thank goodness the job had a lot of down time, so I could study at work. And the hospital paid me 70% of my college costs as long as I got a C or better. And that is how I got my college degree, worked full time at the same time.

Today, just continue puttering about. Lots of stuff to keep me busy. Have a good day all.

I can't stand lazy people, my late wife & myself worked well as a team.

My daughter & Grandaughter live with me and will stay in bed quite late.

I've slowed down now due to my age plus now I have Long Covid I'm even slower but still manage to cook and potter in the garden.

Must add that now my mobility is restricted, J gets up at 8am and makes me tea served in bed and has to do certain chores. Currently he has a load of wash going and is cleaning the Air Fryer. :dbgrtmb::imphrt:

He had a rough time at the Physio with 25 minutes deep massage in his armpit!!!

                    Good morning everyone

Oh Vicky what was J like...little rascal !!
I'm not knocking him now as I know he does look out for you and is very supportive but.....back in the day when he was younger!!! No excuses will wash when you seemed to be working all hours back then. :nonofinger:

Keeping everything crossed for his latest test results :fingers crossed::fingers crossed:

John yes getting older creeps up on us, our mind still thinks it can do everything but our body tell us differently.

When I stop and think of everything we do during the week...well I think my hubs is pretty amazing really. He 's only a couple of years away from his 80th and still thinks nothing of walking miles, assembling and climbing up scaffolding to clean and paint the windows . He still cuts all the hedges that border our whole garden . Since his retirement at 70 he has taken on all the cooking. He's up at 6:30 and brings me up my breakfast in bed at 7....every morning.

So I know I'm very unfair moaning about him not doing as much in the garden at this time of year as he use to. He was always out there but now Autumn and Winter take their toll on him a bit. He tends to other jobs by himself now indoors or out doing the grocery shop while I do the seasonal garden tidy up. I just have to accept it and remain happy to be so lucky to have him in my life. :imphrt:

Today I'm off for a day out with my sister. We're going to leisurely browse around a big Hobby Craft store and then a nearby very large Garden Centre where we'll also have lunch . Should be fun.

                    Have a grand day everybody.

                      Morning all.

A bit overcast now but should be a nice day.

Yesterday I spent forever looking for yarn on line and eventually chose two lots which has been shipped (from China) already.

Sorry, can't get better pic up but will photograph when received (several weeks). Started back up on an afghan I started earlier this year.

J off for his Friday lunch meet up with John.

                      Have a good day everyone.

Friday morning. Greetings all. 53 degrees here. almost 9AM.

@Victoria , that multi colored yarn, both , really looks lovely, what are you planning to make with it? My only sewing history is with the sewing machine, have made dresses for myself years ago. Now only pillow covers, drapes, table clothes, etc. Comes in handy to make up pillow covers for the Airbnb. Wow, your husband brings you tea in the morning, someone trained him right. Mine has no clue how to make coffee for me, even after all these years, not one clue. Yes, its those little things that speak volumes.

Today, might be a good day to get out and start mowing up some leaves and dragging them to either the woods or the burn pile or both, whatever I feel like doing. Just do the front yard part for now. Then some packing for our leaving tomorrow.

Well, onward. Have a good day all.

                          Good day
It is lovely with very few clouds and I think we are about to set a record for this date as it is 74F. That is why I am very late, almost no show here. I went outside before first light to get a start on finishing getting things ready for winter. And good thing it's done. The weather guessers say that any gardening parties will be officially and miserably cold from tomorrow onwards. It was a bonus of a day though :)

I see that everyone else here probably has as nice a day as I did.

See you on the sunny side tomorrow :coffee:

A very calming pic to bring to an end my Reflections theme.

                            download.jpeg

                            Good morning everyone.

Actually not too sure how good it will be as we're supposedly under a weather warning for more rain but imo I think our forecast doesn't look too bad. So my questions are.. are they hiding our real forecast from us because it's truly awful.....or have they got it completely wrong again :noidea:.

Do I go outside and set about my epic pot cleaning ,sorting and storing task only to get caught out and drenched once again or do I waste a day putting off my outside tasks by waiting for the bad weather to materialise ??:dunno:

I wouldn't mind so much if we had a bit of warning and just a few spits and spots first off as this would give me time to clear things away but if recent events are anything to go by the heavens will just suddenly open with a torrential gush!!

I will ponder on my decision a bit longer and have another cuppa in the meantime.:coffee:

Vicky I really love the wool.
I've almost finished a pair of fingerless gloves for hubs so that he can still use his phone and tablet if his hands are feeling a bit cold. I will then start this years Christmas ornaments for our 2 great nephews. I will stop making them when they reach 10 years old....by then they will probably call me batty old Great Auntie C who makes us daft knitted things to hang on our Christmas Tree.:roflol::decoratetree:

Had a lovely day out with my sister:heehee: just puttering in true oap style yesterday..looking at everything ,moaning about the prices and exclaiming ' I can remember way back when it use to cost......':heehee:

Had a nice lunch of Wild Mushroom Soup with freshly baked Olive Bread followed by a humongous Fruit Scone that was a mix between a traditional scone and a rock cake, really yummy ..all washed down with a pot of decaf tea.

Morning all. A mild start here at 15c with the sun now breaking through. May have a shower later.
Now Upsy, don't you mean 'out with my sister' rather than 'with out my sister'? :heehee: Looks like a scrumptious lunch ... but I would pass on the scone ... actually, I would take it home for later.

Nothing special planned for today. J's face pain now almost gone with the antibiotics so hopefully Dentist can determine the problem on Monday.

Safe journey redstar and have a super relaxing tine.

Morning Vicky oops yes most definitely when referring to that particular sis. ;):dbgrtmb:

The scone was too scrumptious looking to resist!! I was very good though that's all I had apart from one slice of Marmite toast in the evening. Hubs took himself off into Southampton for the day and had a meal out ,so no dinner cooking was required by either of us.

Has J had full facial xrays..?.I only ask because I suffered from chronic facial pain for years and it was later discovererd that a number of bones had calcified and I had to have half my scalp shaved and undergo surgery to clean up the bones when I was 24. I couldn't even open my mouth to eat by the end as the pain was so awful.
Mind you if antibiotics have eased his discomfort it sounds like it's more likely he has an infection.

Well our so called weather warning that came in to force at midnight and was due to expire a 6am tomorrow has now been extended until 11:59 pm tomorrow.....a bit on the dramatic side as we currently have lovely sunshine.... so I will probably jinx things now by going out to make a start on ' pot mountain'

Have a super Saturday :) :grphg:xx
