I'm a fair weather gardener so I don't have waterproofs of any sort, just my trusty brolly. :heehee:

But this morning it is very sunny so I shall commune with some weeds and see whether they are happy to go on a holiday.

Sorted out some pots ready to move some Fuchsias into later on.
Washed the inside and outside of the greenhouse, maybe not brilliantly but any grime removed will allow for more beneficial light in....that's my excuse and the theory I'm convincing myself with. :dbgrtmb:

Beautiful day out here today...the lull before the storm and the 50- 60+ mph winds tomorrow and Thursday.

        Hi,

I too am now a fair weather gardener @shiney I've just had a decent session pulling out more ivy plus lots of mini hollies & oaks in rain but I've just come indoors and I'm totally dry; my weatherproof kit works a treat even my hands remained dry. My wet leggings & wellies remain in the garden hut to dry. I enjoyed the company of my little friendly robin often only inches away from me. One handed weeding must be fun?

        Kind regards, Colin.

@Retired it would be if I bothered to do it in the rain but nowadays I'm not even singing in the rain! :heehee:

Nought. I did learn how to cut back the vine over our pergola though. Progress of sorts! I thought it was a winter thing (gardening in WINTER??!) but not. Now's a good time apparently. Oh yeah - another storm and rain. And here's me thinking I lived in the south...

Harvested achimenes rhizomes. 2 more pots to do later, foliage didn't dry up completely yet. 20231031_203057.jpg

A second dry day today  so I made it into the garden. A couple of hours raking leaves and picking up tree debris, ready for the next lot to be blown down tomorrow.

Spent some time today making sure, well as sure as possible, that things hopefully won't take off in the storm that is due to hit us here along the South Coast over the next day or two. We are in a bit of a wind tunnel at the best of times, and usually have greenhouse glass, fences and roof tiles to replace after a storm. No doubt the garden will be needing attention by Friday too.

Believe it or not I actually managed to do some work on the balcony yesterday! :wow:

I pulled out one of the tomato plants and moved the growbag it was in out of the way. It was the only plant left in it. Once that was done I got out the big round table from behind it & put it together again. I put some WD40 on the screws before putting the legs back in. I put it up in the furthest corner of the balcony & then I got out the mini-greenhouse to begin to assemble it. I used WD40 on each of the ends of all the tubes - quite a messy business! It took me the better part of an hour but it is up now and just waiting for the cover to be put on it. I will do that today & then I will start putting the plants I want to keep over winter in it.

I also have a bookshelf I want to put together, for plants like the 100s of Carnation seedlings that don't really need the protection of the greenhouse, just from the rain. So that's what's on my to do list for today, other than getting my Covid jab!

                          Hi,

                          We're under water again after another splash of rain all night; everything outdoors is soaking wet so just another normal day for us;

No gardening for me today; pressing on with the Howard rotavator restoration then after dinner visiting a former neighbour; I might even squeeze in a violin practice. I'm never bored. :dbgrtmb:

Where would we be without WD40 @Balc. I have 5L of it in the workshop. :)

                          Kind regards, Colin.

After the recent wind and rain 90% of the leaves have come off the oaks so I'm sweeping up leaves today.

I removed 6 Tom plants, a few Green Toms to ripen indoors. Then cut the plants up & into the compost bin. 6 more to do later.
