Not used now but Cynthia Payne used to accept them as well.

You would have needed more than this one!

Just had a renewal figure for the house insurance - 20% more than last year. I could get a lower price but when you look a bit deeper into it - the insurance cover is not comparable. Current insurer is also a well known name.

Very nearly went for Age Co insurance as their profits go to Age UK - instead of some shareholders pocket. Funnily enough their block insurance is provided by LV as well.

Car insurance due next year - no doubt that will rocket up as well.

I used to get six shillings a day luncheon vouchers when I first started work. Quite generous back then. :)

Just renewed our house insurance with MBNA, up 20% this time and with good cover it wasn't worth changing.

Heads up - something to watch out for when taking cash out of a cash machine.

Went to take out £10 from the cash machine outside Morrisons. Put the card and amount in. A pause - followed by a message - 'Timed out, cannot contact your bank. Transaction cancelled.'

OK, I thought, probably a glitch in the matrix - I'll have another go. 2nd time around - same message - so gave up and got on with the shopping.

Anyway, checked my account the next day and the money had been debited from my account. The transaction was cancelled after debiting my account. A call to my bank and all sorted out quickly.

Point is - worth checking your account if you come across something similar. My bank said that they need to know of any issues like this the same day or the day after - the longer it is left - the less likely that they will refund.

That's okay Jiffy if you still have a bank that you can walk into. Mine is 14 miles away.

I had a branch of NW, just up the road from me but it closed earlier this year.
They do say if you dont use it you lose it, and I cant remember the last time I used it.

I seem to think you can get cash from post offices now, but not sure how.

You can. Go o the counter and ask. Most banks do not charge, the Post Ofice has a checklist: Everyday banking | Help and support | Post Office® (the "How do I know" section.

Yes, you are lucky if you have a bank or BS thats handy without a trip into a busy town center.

Many of the supermarkets do a Cash Back service along with your purchases, best to ask first which tills offer that service at a particular store.

Nothing wrong with cash machines by the supermarkets, even our old mother used them at 90+ .
