My Nearly-Nana had knees replaced when she was 85. The doctor told her that the implants should last around ten years but that shouldn't be a concern at her age mhaffawh hahhah .

She did indeed start complaining after a decade but there was no doctor willing to operate a 95 year old so she was slightly less mobile in her last years and preferred to take a taxi for her girls' night outs rather than the bus and walk.

She passed away aged 102, after a wonderful and well lived life.

Here in rural France, the elderly ladies use ride-on mowers and sometimes tractors to get about :roflol:

He tried very hard. The buttons are awfully small.

I have joined a chess club, so I go weekly for a few good games. Some I win. Some I help teach the younger ones. And some I loose. Keeping this old brain sharp.

Chinese descriptions are always uplifting (" this cloth hanger will bring many money, good fortune and eternal happiness") and are sometimes most educational.

I have just invested £1.49 in an eyeliner and the instructions made me realise why my previous attempts in the make-up world have been rather unsuccessful.

"DO NOT FAINT WHEN APPLYING MAKE UP"

I knew I had areas of opportunities when it comes to facial decorating for professional purposes- but its all clear now. Thank you Cheapy Eyeliner!

The day a teacher need congratulating for getting some of their 9 times table right will be the day the world has gone totally mad.
You can see where the world is going wrong.

And she didn't even manage to go up to 12 times 9.

                      Washing walls.

We live in an old (between wars) brick house that is very, very damp. Since we are renting, there's not much I can do- I only asked that "replacing" the (non existent) damp course would happen after we leave.

With the extremely wet autumn we now have a proper greenhouse of various mould and fungus colonies everywhere.

So this weekend I have tackled one wall at a time, washing with mould remover, rinsing, touching up the worst parts with paint, airing, airing, heating and airing some more.

I have also bought various chemical dehumidifiers so now we will enjoy chemicals replacing fungus spores in our lungs.

                      Fun and games!

Thankfully we'll not be staying here for much longer. It's a lovely house but tackling this kind of dampness is not great.
