Yes I knew it was Mormon, it's been around a while. I had seen it before ,but could never retrieve any info on my family at all...weird.

I'm so thrilled you're no longer deceased though.:hapydancsmil::yay:xx

I had a look at that site, and my family tree is there. I think I must have put it there a long time ago.
However, it said my mother was born in Ireland ... but she wasn't ! I don't know why it said that, and who put that information in. I have sent to them to ask how I can change it.
I am wondering what else is wrong and who can see this incorrect information.

I contacted them and said I was not deceased and they deleted that and said for me to register to correct. I did that and corrected and you can see who posted the information. . I have sent a message to the person but then found the person on another site ... and it is the nephew of one of my father's wives so I have also contacted him there?

:yikes: Ho no that’s not good, I have my aunt & uncle on who have seen the same names as me, my grandads brother moved to Australia after the war and his other brother moved to America, so I know that’s not made up :)

            Good morning everyone.

That's good that you're now officially deleted VIcky.:heehee:

That's what can happen when your Tree isn't private unfortunately.

Mistakes can easily happen, proof is vital as one wrong person in your Tree can take you down the wrong path to join up with a completely wrong family!!

A lot of people emigrate and equally a lot of people have the exact same names so wrong assumptions are easily made.

I have got back up info on almost all the family members on my tree now (296 so far), but still a few more to try and definitely verify. If I can't find their records via the site's access to the BMD records or through the Census data then I have gone to the Records Library up in London. My sister and I spent a couple of days up there gathering proof of a few people who we weren't too sure of....great fun!!

I remember when we first started we had two females with the same names who lived in London and whose births were both registered in Paddington . The online copies weren't very clear as they were very old so we couldn't make out the full names. My sister and I didn't want to risk going with the wrong female so we went up to Paddington Registry Office and asked for the info we needed to verify the right one. We knew ourselves of the name of our Great, Great Grandpa and his occupation ( he was the father of the female baby) and this we knew would also be logged on his daughter's birth certificate. Once we had confirmed the right one we bought a copy of it to add to our records as proof.

I really enjoy researching and compiling our maternal Tree. I took out a full subscription for a couple of years and it was well worth it, I've downloaded so much information including passenger lists, BMD notifications that were placed in newspapers, distribution of some estates after death....these were very interesting to see who got what and how much!!! Most died ( back in the early 1800's) with just a couple of hundred pounds to leave . Which was probably not bad really back then.

In contrast to having money I sadly discovered a family member passing away as a pauper and another one in a workhouse.....so sad.

On that gloomy note.......have a good day everyone.:spinning:

Morning all. Slept like a log.

Well, now that I am alive and well, I shall just get on with life and forget about these sites as I am not interested anyway. I can see where this mishap occurred as I emigrated six times in 50 years under several names. I will let you know if I hear back from this Nephew of one of my Father's ex-wives. :rolleyespink:.

It is a lovely sunny day again and we have nothing planned.

                Morning Vicky.

Oh that's a shame that it doesn't interest you, you've rekindled my interest again now so I will add it to list of things to do when I have nothing planned or dodgy weather. Thank you.

I did finally find my Grandma on that site, they had all the names correct....except the right husband's !!!:heehee: I bet some people have got the wrong Alice 'Robinson' on their family tree now.:oopss:

I've been interested in my roots since I was very little. We used to go to the beaches on the Gower peninsula and my mother used to point at the Devonshire hills across the sea, and tell me Grampa's family came from there.
I used to imagine them coming on a ship, and why did they come ? and I used to imagine them carrying that woodden chair that was in my grandparents' kitchen, off the ship, and that old chest (now with my cousin) and what was in it ?

I think it helps if you've got a vivid imagination, and mine worked overtime, trying to work out mysteries from all sides of my family - things you only heard whispers of, and they were supposed to be secrets (but everyone knew and pretended they didn't)

Who was that woman that ran away with a 'coachman' and was then disowned by her family ? I haven't got to the bottom of that one yet.

So many old photos too - who are they and what could they tell me ? I have found out who some of them are and the stories behind their lives. It's more than just a list of names. Social history is so interesting, and I think it's important to learn about it.
And when your family can be fitted into it, that makes it come alive.

I must shut up now !

Neither of us have anyone to pass info onto as we are both the youngest of two.

I know an Alice Robinson, the daughter of an ex-neighbour in Bucks, but she is only about 40.

Hope it dries up for you a bit so you can get outside. I have cycled and will go out shortly and catch some Vit D.

I don't care if I can pass it on to anyone, I'm doing it because I find it interesting.
You either do or you don't.

My Sis got into this (basically our Mother's side) and I remembered she sent me stuff. So I went back and looked and found a copy of a "book" on The Boar War with her name in the front as our Great Grandfather participated. I also found a document about our Great Grandfather and when the Egan family moved from Ireland to Wales. I will read it all later.

Agree Michael. I was really interested when my lovely Uncle started doing his side of our family ( my Dad's brother, so paternal side). He became a real expert and gathered a wealth of knowledge on our family history.
He inspired me so much that when I was laid up and unable to work for almost 4 months due to foot surgery, I signed up with Ancestry for a year( eventually for another year too.)

I loved it and really learnt a lot about the day to day struggles of living in Georgian and Victorian Britain. I had family living in the Whitechapel area, with Jack the Ripper for a neighbour!!!:yikes:

I found that one of my G,G,G Grandpa's had real struggles after my G,G,G Grandma died at a young age, leaving him with 3 small children. He obviously had to keep working and I discovered by looking through many census records that his children often popped up living with other relatives in London, so it was good to know he had childcare support. He eventually remarried and ran a Pub and it was heartwarming to see in the next Census ( 10 yrs later) that the whole family were back together, his eldest son was by this time married but worked alongside his Dad in the Pub.

I have plenty more such stories, some not quite so happy unfortunately, as there was lots of illnesses hitting everyday life and families.

But good or bad/ sad history lives on in us as it played it's part in making us who we are now, and shouldn't be forgotten.:dbgrtmb::imphrt:

That is all so interesting @Upsydaisy. I don't only find my own family fascinating but other peopl's too.
I'm also doing Beryl's tree. She wasn't that interested herself, but I find it fascinating.

Pity we couldn't meet up one day and compare our trees. I would enjoy that

I will tell you this - I have an ancestor (although not a direct ancestor, but a blood relation none the less) who is suspected by some people of being Jack the Ripper.
I've found some strange 'evidence' in the National Library of Wales which sort of proves he could have been Jack, or at least knew who the real Jack was ...
