I've just picked up 75lb of windfall apples (we cooked down 25lb yesterday :phew:) and had to give up as it was getting dangerous in the gales as the trees were chucking apples at me! I've left the smaller ones down there for the birds and wasps.

There were three buckets of cooking apples like this. The other two are now sitting under the pergola waiting for collection by friends. Eating apples are already put in fridge.

      Hi,

Hard hat area @shiney :dbgrtmb: They look good enough to eat; an apple pie would be nice.

Blowing a gale here too on the steep valley side; I've just visited our local post office and typical of my luck the post office section closed at 3 o'clock; ho hum everything's normal.

I spent all morning setting up our new TV but still need to learn how to connect it to a network; a five minute job for a kid these days; I'm a dinosaur.

      Kind regards, Colin.

The wind has dropped this morning but haven't been down the end of the garden to see how many more apples came down. Green waste bin collection tomorrow morning so, before the drizzle started, we raked and binned the leaves on the front.

They go in the green waste bins as it is too difficult to get them down to the compost heaps at the back. The filled three wheelie bins to the top before rain stopped play.

Pulled up the cosmos now that they have finished and planted the tulip bulbs there, could have done with more bulbs but that will be for next year.

Nothing so far today as (a) it's been pouring down and (b) not feeling too well......but as the sun has suddenly sprung up I could maybe be temped to do a few little tasks. We'll see:dunno:.

As forecasted, lots of heavy rain again, so nothing to do but draw up a longer list of tasks. Pruning is the priority within (hopefully) the next five weeks, as I don't fancy doing it over the Christmas period!

Tracing wires. I've got one wire from the solar panels that must have a break somewhere and now I believe I've narrowed it down to a long underground run. I'm going to triple check because I really don't want to be digging up the lawn at this time of year.

I pulled the last of the zinnias out and discovered another Dahlia tuber while pulling things up. Bonus. :)

                              Hi,

I hope your luck is better than my luck CanadianLori. If it is the cable at fault can you splice a new cable onto the faulty cable and pull it through; fingers crossed you find the fault in an easier place.

                              Kind regards, Colin.

Thanks @Retired , I need all the luck I can get! I know I cannot pull a wire through as it is hard packed across that run. Worse comes to worse, I'll splice a new line to the panel and then just run it hillbilly fashion on the ground, until the spring. There won't be any more mowing or any lawn work because we are down at freezing every night and the day time highs are only in the mid 40F range. So obviously not enough time for what grass is there to forgive me before it snows.
