We are having lots of flies now, normally they come in October wet weather, which wasn't wet.

My Acer winter flame is doing quite well now after initial scare, the leaves did go a bit more orange yellow but the wind/rain took them off before I got a pic.

Mrs Shiney has started on making Christmas door wreathes with all proceeds going to charity. They are made to order with a list of what is available to go in them. Nearly everything is from the garden but some people want baubles etc. added.

              These are the first two

Some people only want leaves and others want lots of colour. Eucalyptus is popular this year with someone wanting only that and nothing else :rolleyespink:.

Wonderful wreaths! Mrs Shiney is very talented. You must have a big callicarpa plant to supply all those stems. Which crab apple is that please?

We have two Callicarpa that are about 6ft tall and 5ft wide. We thought one had died in the big freeze last winter (really looked completely dead compared to the one next to it) but has come back with a vengeance. :blue thumb:

The crab apple is wild and in the hedgerow just by us - so we don't need to grow one  :heehee:

Mrs Shiney then gives them a choice of ribbons to be attached. :dbgrtmb:

@CarolineL Thanks, I'm glad you like them! :) Perhaps my plants are younger than yours! I only bought them a couple of months ago & they were quite small plants then. They have grown since then & in some of them there are quite a number of flower buds well beneath the leaves at present. I hope they will keep on flowering for sometime yet.

As this is the first time I've grown more than one I don't know yet how long they will flower for, not even really sure if this specie is frost resistant as we haven't had any here so far this autumn. Well last week I did see some frost on the roofs of the houses across the road from us but none so far on the grass in front of the balcony.
