@Michael Hewett ---recall when we were renovating the kitchen. Husband was sanding the plaster, causing great foggy sanding. And the sanding machine was so loud it was louder than the fire alarm which was triggered by the plaster dust, then the fire alarm was sent to the Fire station. So I happened to look outside and in the drive was the fire truck, and men coming out. Wow. We did not even hear the truck coming down the street, that sanding machine was so loud. I also may have been wearing ear protectors and husband also. We knew better next sanding time, call the alarm system to have it turned off for a few hours.

It's getting on my nerves @CanadianLori, and the colder than usual weather is also getting on my nerves. I don't care if the sun is shining, it's too cold and there's ice everywhere, and it makes me feel miserable. I prefer rain.
And yes I'll be glad to get the place back to normal.

@redstar We have been in your situaton many times so can empathise. You and your Baby will be kept in my thoughts.

Van has been acting more normal today and stayed out in the drizzle on the condenser under the large Bougainvilla ... rain has never really bothered him but we don't know how he lived his first two years. We have not taken him to the Vet but are closely monitoring him. They both came in for dinner at 6pm and now they are in till 8am tomorrow.

              Good morning everyone.

Well thankfully the sleet never arrived yesterday although at one point it did look like we might've got snow but it passed by.

Spent the day mostly on the phone it seemed to various friends and family. I also booked our next cinema visit, seeing Napoleon next Thursday.

We're off around 10 this morning, so just have a few final bits to do.

Have a good day/ weekend everybody.

                Morning Upsy and all.

It arrived at long last ... we had a wild, wet and windy night with 38mm of long awaited for rain so the shrubs, trees and land are loving it. Not sure how much it helped the dams. We desperately need more.

My table top greenhouse/propagator arrived safely yesterday. It was wrapped in a continuous piece of bubble wrap ... we guesstimate 40 feet of it! Really have no need for it now as the Adenium Nursery went into The Baffa due to our sudden drop in temperature.

Trust all went well yesterday Lori.

Safe journey and have fun Upsy.

No plans here except J meeting John for their Friday rendezvous.

                  Good day
It is very mild and 40f 4c. There are lots of clouds in the sky and I'm okay with that as I have to spend most of my time indoors today anyway. @Michael Hewett I'll try to get these milder temps to blow across the pond to you.

I will never get a cat again. Somehow I suffered through my allergies to them for years, but the worst was the grief when they died. I was a big blubbering mess of tears. Never again.

The ladies had a good time yesterday. They all got at least 1/2 dozen fresh buns to take home too. There is still lots of white wine left so I shall make some wine jelly and can it in little mason jars as gifts for my friends.

My neighbour from across the street has asked me to create a "snow fence" for the doorway to the water in his boat house. He brought over the poly mesh and I will be sewing a channel in the bottom to hold large diameter pipe as a bottom weight. All the outer edges are to be metal grommeted. I was going to start on the new cushion covers for the rocker however I'll get this done and out as it is some 25 feet wide.

I've already gotten two loads of laundry done and hung to dry in the cellar. I've got a wall mounted fan blowing the clothes around to help the drying process.

I have 4 shops to visit today too so I don't land up out there on the weekend again! :paladin:

Have a lovely day all. Cheers :coffee:

Good day all. 2PM. just busy morning.
Cat still with us. Canceled the visiting vet for Saturday to send her to heaven. Going to try to let nature take its course, husband is better with that decision, he has some hope. He's even willing to cancel our next trip and stay home with her. Sweet. Not sure she will last till the 15th.
Anyway, got some leaf removal done front yard, big leaf pile burning now.
Made a big pot of soup, some dry bag I got at an Amish market, split peas, green and yellow, and alphabet noodles, and rice, put some chicken broth with it all, simmered for 2 hours. Decent tasting. I added a tablespoon of miso.
Well on to whatever in the house. Thanks to all for your thoughts.

Morning all. Is our Upsy having a lie in this morning?

It is a nippy 8c here this morning and a little overcast but should goo to maybe 16c later.

Just a quiet weekend for us.

Good morning everyone.....we made it !!!

Apart from our train being delayed by 25mins due to some strike action the journey was really easy. Walked out from Waterloo Station and there was the bus that we needed which dropped us right outside our son's apartment block.

No lie in just about to head out Vicky
Today we are visiting the National Portrait Gallery and then hopefully we will drop by the art studio were our son has his lessons as he has some of his work on display there that we want to see.
After lunch we plan to visit Borough Market, such a buzzing atmosphere, we went last Christmas with our eldest.

:rain: At last Vicky you have had a good helping of some much needed rain, I hope it has had some positive effect on the dams.

Michael I hope your nerves are gradually becoming unjangled now with all your renovations and the cold weather. Take care.

Redstar so pleased to hear that your cat is comfortable enough for you to consider allowing nature to run it's course.

Lori glad that you had a lovely time with friends.....and what extremely lucky friends they are too going home armed with freshly baked goodies.

                        Have a super Saturday everybody.

Morning all. getting warmer here today, to get up to 60 it says. lots of rain late yesterday so no outside stuff .
My retirement goal still stands, Get rid of stuff, so again will aim at that today for a while. He is working on taking some items to a local auction house.
We don't do much for Christmas, a few decorations, change the mantel --that is done. Bake extra stuff for gifts. Both of us have enough stuff, need no more "things". Usually we try for experiences together. But with all the traveling already this year, think we are happy to stay put.
As far as dinner on Christmas day, not sure yet what we will do. Had the big family gathering on Thanksgiving already. We shall see.
Cat still with us, seems perky. Eating ok, drinking water. output good.
                            Take care all.

@Michael Hewett , recall, when we renovated the kitchen, it affected the dinning room, and hallway. So there I am painting the ceiling, using a few methods to paint, from the floor with a long handle, up on a ladder shorter handle. All I know is after I was done with the ceiling of the kitchen, dinning room, and hallway painting, my Neck hurt for a solid week. Never again.
