You are brave gardening in this weather.
My borders would benefit weeding, roses tying up, one elderberry stump ideally would need to go and so on and etc.... but.... it's sooo wet, and when not wet, it's cold, or windy or too dark. :) I avoid these jobs, what I did over the past days, I only potted up malwina strawberries planlets I received.
I need to plant reduced price snodrops I grabbed while food shopping. Never too many snowdrops for me. With very heavy soil they don't last long.
I ordered plastic raised bed borders, I will use them in a greehouse.

      Hi,

Many thanks @Alisa I think I'm more desperate than brave; the plants I bought from J Parker's cost £120 and as many of them were small plugs showing their roots I wanted to plant them as soon as possible; I'd already waited for well over a week for as you rightly say the bad weather got in the way; I decided to get in the way of the bad weather and wrap up like an Eskimo; I dislike soakings but here in Yorkshire during mid summer with the hot sun beating down I can blink and be in a cloudburst; usually just as I've put the last brush full of paint on exterior woodwork.

I've just been along the street delivering Christmas cards; it was fine but cold when I set off but just as I walked away from the last house down came the rain and lots of it being blown in the wind. :wallbanging:

Will the rain ever let up. Some days daylight is cancelled as it's been again today; we live in a wet black hole. :gaah:

      Kind regards, Colin.

@Retired good that you put your plants in the garden and containers, they should be fine in there till spring.
Haven't done anything in the garden for ages, it's been too wet.

All weekend & nothing getting done on the balcony! With the rain coming from the SW it enters at least 3/4 of the way across the balcony & there is no way of going outside without risking a fall in the horrible slippery mess the pigeon droppings make. They sit most of the day on the balcony railings of the 4th floor flat & as our balcony projects outwards 50cm more than the 6 flats above us anything from above lands in our balcony.:rolleyespink::sad:

I did go out this morning after getting back home from church & before the heavier rain came down to soak the balcony again. But I only had time -10 mins to roll up the plastic door on the mini-greenhouse & remove a few dead/dying leaves & some that were rolled up up which no doubt contained a tiny caterpillar that's been eating my plants all summer. Then it was a dash indoors to avoid a soaking!

            Hi,

Thanks @Logan Yes I think the plants are now looking after themselves at last and as you say should be fine until springtime; I'm looking forward to a blaze of colour when springtime arrives as you are with all the work you've done in your borders.

It's not raining which has thrown me off balance this morning so I need to sort out what I want to achieve today; it's snowed with frost; high wind and very heavy rain for so long it's become a way of life; dry weather has become alien to me. I doubt it will last and be bucketing down again shortly.

            Kind regards, Colin.

Just watching some chap try to kill himself in a Darwinesque kind of way. He's 15ft up a ladder topping some huge laurels, another 10-15ft above him and he's chopping toward his stomach with a chainsaw. It's a battery one but quite enough to disembowel himself

That's good news @Retired I'm taking a break from gardening for a while, but like you it's been raining most of the time. Still got to cut off the old fruiting canes from the blackberries and Loganberries, I've got to talk myself into doing it at the moment, maybe after Christmas I'll be ready for them.

I wouldn't: just in case I surprised him and made things worse when he jumped.

                            Hi,

I spent an hour planting 40 daffodils this afternoon finishing when it became too dark to see at 3:30; I'm pleased though to finally get them planted; as usual it was harder and took longer than expected; they needed to be put in at 6" deep so it was a spade job; I planted them in the very top left hand border out of the way but ensuring they'll receive maximum sunlight; I like daffodils but I don't like them once the blooms die they always look a mess.

                            Kind regards, Colin.

After the guys came by and blew all the leaves off my roof, was hoping the next day to get to yet another pile of them, but it rained, and rained. Last night it snowed. So when it dry off, then I will remove some more leaves.
