Listened to Carmen this afternoon: this comes from that recording:

A bit of sunshine for a wet, windy afternoon.

Oh dear I didn't even think that people would need to sign in. It took me 10 minutes to work out what you were referring to as I signed in about 20 years ago and never signed out can't miss out on interesting radio programmes.
Anyway if you are interested see link below for some of Benjamins Zephaniah's poetry although you will miss out on the gentle questioning of the "Bard of Barnsley" Ian McMillan

@Logan please see post immediately prior to yours.
I was aware it was on BBC Sounds, not iPlayer; Sounds and radio are free to air, iPlayer and BBC television require a license to be paid for.
Perhaps somebody can explain to me what the difference is between logging into use BBC Sounds and logging into use this or any other forum.
You log into your phone/computer and many other things to use them so what's the problem with BBC Sounds or is it just a whim along the lines of I'll log in here, but not there.

Maybe BBC sounds is available outside the UK:scratch: so they cant nail everyone down to buying a licence, its only the Brits that have to pay to watch the BBC.

I wouldn't sign in as it's BBC and I haven't got a tv licence. I've not had a tv for 14 years. Thanks for taking the time to re-post for me though. :)

I'm just a whimsical person so I log in to as few things as possible. :noidea:

Talking of whims and this being the 'listening thread' I never really understood why the song 'Wimoweh' (now known as 'The Lion sleeps Tonight') was named that.

It is said it was the English version, named by the famous folk singer Pete Seeger, of the Zulu name for the song. The Zulu name for the song is 'Mbube'! Wimoweh became a big hit in the 50's and especially the 60's. The biggest hit version of it in the UK was by the Scottish pop star Karl Denver (reached No 4. in the hit parade).

I did ask my friend, a Zulu chief, what he thought of the name change. He was just as puzzled as me.
