Upsydaisy I’m so glad your son has arrived safely, sounds like he knows what he is doing and has his whits about him, it’s so easy to say don’t worry but we all worry anyway, just shows we care a lot about each other.

Victoria you look lovely on your bike in your lovely new top :imphrt:, so glad Js in the clear with his appointments :dbgrtmb:, just out of interest…. Do you ever get any frost over there ?

Redstar sounds like your going to have a lovely time enjoy :spinning:

Lori, what are you upto this Xmas ? I bet you’ve already made an Xmas cake ?

writing my cards today (I know a bit late) but just couldn’t get in the mood, and wrapping presents

      Morning Flumpy.

Aww that's bauble is a very precious beauty.
      Your Mum looks fab.

I was very late with my cards this year, I normally post them all at the beginning of December the day after my Mums birthday but ended up doing them last week, even missed the last posting dates for abroad,!!

You're very welcome dear Vicky, always here for you.x

Had some extremely sad news yesterday, a friend of ours has passed away. So very cross with ourselves as we kept saying we would visit them when we go up to London...but we end up busy doing things and as is so very often the case...missed opportunities happen. So devastated he was such a lovely gentle soul who successfully battled with and beat cancer when he was in his 20s and studying at Southampton Uni with hubs. He was truly amazing always smiling and putting on a brave face throughout his ordeal, despite being in a foreign land and hundreds of miles from his home and family.

@Flumpy That is a beautiful ornament and a lovely memory. xx

Upsy, so sad to get such news at any time, let alone at this time of year. Hopefully he passed peacefully.

May both these precious souls ..

Good morning and welcome to a fresh new week.

A day of definitely doing the last remaining indoor jobs today as I spent the majority of my time yesterday out in the garden .

Hoping to get an update from baby son at some point as he's leaving Sao Paulo today and heading to his next destination. He's very good at letting us know his locations , we drummed it into to all our brood to keep us well informed of their whereabouts, especially so when travelling solo. On the whole they are all good at doing so but our youngest is by far the best.

            Have a super day everyone.

              Morning all.

A fine day here but a fresh start.

Nothing to report after a quiet weekend and a relatively quiet week ahead.

                Morning everybody.

Off to visit my brother this morning..armed with mince pies, which he loves! :dbgrtmb:

We had originally thought that we might go into Winchester afterwards for a last wander around the Christmas Fair and grab a bite to eat, but our forecast isn't really appropriate for a leisurely stroll and browse so we'll wait and decide nearer the time.:fingers crossed:

All seems very quiet on here at the moment, everyone doing last minute Christmas preparations I expect.

Lori for one will be busy baking and gifting trays of yummy offerings to some very lucky people I expect.

This time next week the big day will have come and gone. :santastuck: Hard to believe isn't it.

                Have a nice day.

                  Morning one and all.

The sun is up and shining but we are a very frisky 5c, however we will be going up to 15/16c by mid afternoon.

Enjoy the visit with R Upsy, and the mince pies, and hope the journey is safe. I don't think we will have any mince pies this year as J has not gone to Iceland and doubt he will now. He is meeting Donald today for lunch.

                    Morning Vicky.:)

Thanks yes ,we missed seeing him last week so really looking forward to our visit...well apart from having to brave the rain that is!!

I spoke with one of my cousins, yesterday and he tends to do what our youngest does and escape our weather. They travelled through France and Spain and are currently in the Algarve for Christmas before moving on, they won't be home until February either.

We're just heading off so have a lovely day.xx

Good day.. oh, I guess it's evening over there Good Evening!
It is -1 30f and a slight sprinkle of snow has remained on the ground. The guessers say we'll get a bit more and then it will all be melted off by Christmas day or before.

@Flumpy I'm a naughty girl. I make Christmas cake a few times a year as I love it. Unfortunately I eat most of them. I don't know why I just don't skip the guessing and just take them with me after baking and stand on the weigh scales to see what the future will be!

I've finally gotten through all the baking and getting the goodies onto trays for handing out. It was a marathon. All in all, I finished with 97 dozen cookies, plus 4 dozen mince tarts, 3 dozen cherry tarts and homemade mint chocolate fudge. Of course the Christmas cakes were already made and I simply needed to add them to the center of the trays. Unfortunately a few of the trays were already taken when I remembered to take a picture.

                      20231215_102703.jpg
Emily still has to finish decorating her gingerbread cookies that she wants to share with friends at school. I guess she decided to follow my lead when I turned my gingerbread men shaped cuts upside down and then decorated the legs with antlers and put the eyes between the arms (ears) and the red nose at the bottom. She has been really quite creative with her candy cane shaped ones by putting eyes on the tip of the "handle" end of the cane and making them into ginger worms with stripes!

What is interesting is that the brussels sprouts I bought are all fairly small. And they were like that everywhere. Now I don't feel so badly that my crop did not come in. ;)

I'll probably be spotty with my attendance again because I still have a lot of driving to do to deliver the goodies however I will do my best to look in.

Cheers :coffee: (it's still cuppa time here )

Hi there Lori good to hear from you, I think small Brussels are the best....I love them just as much in their raw state too. Yum yum!

Sounds like you and Emily are having a fun time.

It must cost you a small fortune. Maybe you will cut back when you retire.

                          Enjoy the Holiday Season. Vxx

Good morning everyone, how are you all today.

Had a good visit with my brother yesterday, although for some reason he was extremely tired. Managed to persuade him to go to the Christmas lunch party that they were holding , boy did it take a lot of persuasion too !!. In the end I pushed him round to the communal lounge in his wheelchair, left him with a plate of food and went back to clean out and feed his budgie , hubs did the vacuuming as the bird is seemingly molting!!

We then headed back home without going into Winchester as it was still raining extremely heavily.

Today I'm meeting up in town with a friend for a festive catch up....with of course cake!!

                            Have a brilliant day.

                              Morning Upsy and all.

They are doing their Christmas lunch early at the complex ... what will they do on the day?

Nothing special going on here, J will make a run to the Post Office as I am expecting things ... I obviously do a lot of mail order as I don't get to the shops.

We haven't had a landline for two weeks now. J said he has notified them ... but I don't like relying on mobiles!

                              Enjoy the day.
