    Good day
It is 30f -1c again and I don't know if it is cloudy or not as it is still pitch here.

@Upsydaisy I'm sure both your brother and the bird were happy about your visit. I always thought they did their molting in the spring but hey, I don't have feathers so I don't really know.

@Victoria I haven't taken in a job since around the time Emily moved in and I'm telling people it is a sabbatical. I think I am going to pretty much shutter the business for good because I believe I decided that I'm busy enough without extra to do. Yes, it costs a small fortune to do the trays for Christmas however I've been silly enough to make it a "tradition" for 20 years now and I figure there would be disappointment all round if I quit. Not nice for the holidays. ;)

@Flumpy I forgot to mention that I really like your tribute to your Mum. Very pretty and tasteful:dbgrtmb:

Today I go to see my wine people and I'll be taking them some little jars of wine jelly for some Christmas cheer. This business moved a good distance from me but in these poorly economic times, I feel that loyalty to those who have been kind is all important.

Only two more early "get-ups" as Emily's last day of school for this year is this Friday. She doesn't go back until January 8th so we will have two weeks of being ladies of leisure. :heehee:

    Cheers :coffee:

          Morning Upsy and all.
A Pink cat bowl with s/s liner (the blue one had already arrived) and my two plants, a Brunfelsia (Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow) rooting from Spain and an Adenium from the canaries. The pink cat bowl came so :fingers crossed: the plants find their way here today.

J doing cleaning today as John and new lady friend Margaret (Who Jim has met but not me) coming for Chinese meal tomorrow.

          Safe journey Upsy ... Vxx

Thursday morning, 9:30 Am. 34 degrees here, sunny.
@Upsydaisy , the place was nice, but very laid back, I brought books. Seems husband could not get into the zone of "just doing nothing". But, its ok, I am glad to be home. Got at least the bake done I wanted to do for the gifts to a few.
Baked a new recipe yesterday, Sticky Malt loaf, so now its in a big tin in the cold garage "maturing". Planning a short trip to the next town to an Italian Market--they have loads of neat foodie items. And then to my grocery store for some staples.
It was hard returning home to no cats yelling at me. Looks like the weather will be dry here through the weekend, so a few hours of leaf removal on my list. We have Christmas Eve reservations at a local place for early dinner. Or I could change my mind and make something.

Yesterday new guests arrived at our airbnb, saw they brought a Christmas tree with them. That is sweet. I did put out some restrained holiday touches before we left in November, never know how folks respond to things. So just touches of red cardinals and poinsettias, and a holiday bell for the knob, and a runner for dinning room table with again cardinals and the word Peace on it. The cleaners said they would put all away when this group leaves.

Anyway, off to still unpack and do more laundry. Fun.

            Have a grand day all.

Morning to everyone. I guess Upsy will come on later.

My Adenium plant from the Canaries finally arrived safely yesterday.

I had a sleepless night last night for unknown reasons so I have decided I want to go out today as I have not been out socialising for eight months! Jim is texting John to tell him to meet us at the Chinese then we will come back here after, if John and Margaret would like too, I will wear my new blouse with wine red leggings and gold sandals. I have also decided I will tell J I want to go out once a month to a place of my choosing ... not these three places he goes to full of mostly Brits. ... 2024 will have new beginnings for me. :heehee:

Trust the trip went without incident Upsy.

                Morning everyone!! :)

Yes thanks Vicky, everything went exactly to plan and we were here just after 3pm.:dbgrtmb:

You're going to look fabulous , very festive indeed! Yay to your new beginnings... :Wino: here's to 2024.xxx

Not sure of today's plans probably just sticking close to base as Central London will still undoubtedly be heaving with last minute Christmas shoppers.

We'll have our middle son and fiancee join us here on Boxing Day so that is something else to look forward. Still heard nothing from baby son so just going to WhatsApp him...must remember the time difference..about 3 hours I think so may wait a little longer.

Glad that your plant arrived safe and sound Vicky..is that it now or have you got more to come?

Have a lovely time out today with John & Margaret...and your J too of course!! :)

Redstar I love Malt Loaf, brings back happy tea-time memories of my childhood, sliced with a light spread of butter...yum, yum!!

                A great day everyone.

Friday , lunch time here NOON.

One of the children from the Chess Club, he is about 9 years old got me a Christmas gift, amazing. did not expect it at all. So met up with him and his mother for the gift. Have not opened it yet, I am just flabbergasted that out of the blue someone did that. Not sure how to reciprocate , or what ect. Any suggestions chime in. Or should I not at all.

Got to my favorite Italian Market for some food goodies yesterday.

Area stores having citrus sales now, and the Amish markets selling shucked oysters and scallops. Seems "oysters" is a big thing /meaning with the Amish. I got a small bottle and will gently saute in butter and oil with a coating of rice flour and old bay on it. We are going out for dinner on Christmas Eve, and Christmas day I will probably make fresh scallops with who know what.

Wrapped my gift for the Post lady--she gets a Malt sticky loaf, so does two of my neighbors. According the recipe it has to "Mature", so a note went with it to leave it alone till Christmas Eve for its Maturity ----Lol.

And, husband says no car shows till August. YEAH, I am so glad, its tiring.

                  Later.

Morning everyone. :santagift:and a lovely sunny one it is too.:hapydancsmil:

Once again not sure yet what will be on today's agenda, we'll just see where the day leads us .

Yesterday 's adventures are posted up on the You're Day ( apart from gardening)....... thread for anyone interested. :blue thumb:

Heard from baby son who is still in Brazil but further south. Today he's visiting the Iguazu Falls which he's really looking forward to, then he's moving on again tomorrow to his next destination.

                    Iguazu Falls - Wikipedia

We'll have a video call with him on Boxing Day so that both his brothers can speak with him. He says the temps are still up in the mid 30C's

                    Have a great Saturday .

                      Morning all.

A beautiful sunny morning albeit fresh at 8c, but we will go up to the mid/high teens.

What a beautiful Falls Upsy ... I should have had that in my Waterfalls theme.

My last plantlet Brunfelsia (Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow) came yesterday so I will pot that up later this morning.
                      Growing the Yesterday-Today-and-Tomorrow Plant

Had a lovely outing with John and Margaret yesterday. Really liked Margaret. Ahe is the same age as me (well two months younger), widowed ans lives in Silves. She is a cute diddy little thing 5 foot and 110lbs wit a white bob. We stayed at the restaurant till 4.30 (from 12.30) and they will probably come here for a visit in the week. John did not look well!

Off now for a lazy Sunday.

Morning all. Just baking my second product. Not too much this year. Biscotti, sour cherry, almond, orange flavor. This year I made my own candied orange rind.
Nice weather here also 41, going to hopefully get out to some garden stuff soon.

I think husband got me a Christmas gift, no suppose to do that. We had an understanding, no gifts. Both of us have too much stuff. Now, I don't have anything for him. He does not need anything. SMH. And I do not need anything.
                                Later.
