Yes but most have a link to Google maps/Streetview with the ability to view and measure gardens; and discover neighbouring conflicts, schools, roads, pylons, back access and open spaces. Good for roof inspections, dodgy chimneys and similar too !

Yes that's exactly what I do. I also check the neighbours gardens and cars, it's the best way to check what the neighbourhood is really like. :)

        Hi,

Not in the garden but where I maintain/repair my gardening kit and machines; I've enjoyed a session tidying the workshop this morning so I've now got clear bench space for the next job.

        23 Dec 2023_0001.JPG

I don't like my workshop to be untidy; I sold lots of my big industrial 3 phase machines now still having a decent workshop that serves my needs.

Every autumn I service my gardening machinery then it's always ready for springtime.

        Kind regards, Colin.

Actually got out in the garden today, after a bit of a hiatus due to medics and wet weather, so weeded brassicas, and leeks. Finally planted out broad beans.

                Hi,

Thanks @infradig it's surprising how many times I've been asked the same question over the years. :dbgrtmb:

For years I always garaged our car @Grandma Sue but then I became so fed up of having to dry it four or five times a week the car now sits on the driveway allowing me to convert the garage into a very useful workshop; leaving the car out I think is also better for it; they do say the best thing to do for a garaged car is to remove the bottom 6" from the garage doors.

I have to smile each time I receive plants from J Parker's; there's always instructions included to water well; what they really need is lead weights to stop them floating away.

The weather is dire as usual so no work planned in the garden for today; only three months now to when we jokingly alter the clocks and refer to it as BRITISH SUMMER TIME when the daffodils are poking through the snow for ages.

                Kind regards, Colin.

                  Hi,

I think the high wind has finally let go after many days of its company; it's so dark outside I don't yet know what it's doing but if it's not raining I plan to do a bit of digging today; there's a small area of grass I want to turn over; not a big job but it keeps staring at me as I look out of the kitchen window. :)

                  Kind regards, Colin.

Snatching a bit of time to myself before the family arrives -"hoping it lasts until 10-ish :heehee:

Been out to check on succulents in cold frame all are flourishing, except for one which has turned brown at the tips. Might take that one inside IF I can find room - having a small kitchen doesn't really help when preparing Christmas dinner. "mind you if that is all of my concerns I think I am lucky"

All I did yesterday was repot three Pittosporums. It took 100 litres of compost! I shall see whether I can drag myself out there to do some cutting back.

                          Hi,

Many thanks @CarolineL I thought a bit of gentle digging today would be nice until I could finally see what it was like outdoors; it keeps bucketing down with rain so we're awash yet again; the terrific wind which I thought was permanent has now reduced to a light breeze; if it picks up a bit this afternoon I'll put my wellies on and collect the spade from the garden hut.

Just been bucketing down with rain.
                          25 Dec 2023_0002.JPG
Living here in Yorkshire hosepipes and watering cans aren't exactly top sellers; everything's awash again.

Yesterday was just another usual very wet and very windy day also still the same as we went to bed last night; just the heavy rain so far this morning but I think daylight is canceled once again.

Due to the dire weather yesterday I thought ignore it and enjoy a violin practice so I put the heat on in the studio and a bit later wandered in; with the violin plugged into the amp and the recording gear set up I sat down; the first stroke of the bow across the strings was all I enjoyed; I was attacked with hiccups; I'm about to wander into the studio again but wonder what the problem will be this time; seldom do I get any peace to play my violins; having high wind and heavy rain pounding onto the studio roof just above my head is bad enough; before removing the huge oak tree acorns were treating the roof as a drum and birds running across the roof are also noisy; it's all part of life's rich tapestry; I'm not grumbling because at least I have a lovely recording studio and even workshop to play in during adverse weather conditions.

Time now to get off my backside and try for a violin practice.

                          Kind regards, Colin.

No garden chores today, even out on our son's roof garden( although I admit I'm itching to tidy up their pots of dead plants :heehee:). Gardening can become so obsessive and sometimes there are more important things and people to give precious time to.

                                Hi,

I didn't make it into the studio after all; a miracle occurred; it stopped raining so I took advantage of this rare occurrence.

The strip of grass to the right of the path has been bugging me every time I look out of the kitchen window.

                                A closer view.

Much better and another job ticked off. As usual not just a case of digging over; there were tree roots to get out plus like a spiders web of very thin roots. I can relax a bit and it's still not raining; perhaps after dinner I can do a bit of rotavating but I'm not holding my breath. What I thought was a gentle breeze was actually a strong very cold breeze; I was well wrapped up and enjoyed the hour or so as I worked. :dbgrtmb:

                                Kind regards, Colin.
