What's looking good January 2024

Just remember if caught you could get 10yrs in the Bastille.

 

That sounds like my grandmother ... and me !
When we took her to the botanic gardens in a near-by park my dad used to tell her if she got caught he'd say she wasn't with him, and she'd look at me and roll her eyes

 

Um...don't know how to break this to you, but it was destroyed in 1789 Shiney will no doubt confirm.....

 

I used to have trouble restraining some of the members of our local Hort Society on garden visits. They carried secateurs and trowels in their handbags for goodness sake...

 

First of the hellebores

 

One of the 2 remaining Orchids in the small kitchen window has begun to put up a scape! This will be the 3rd time it's flowered for me since my daughter gave me it 3 or 4 years ago for my birthday.

First blooms on the Iochroma plus more buds ...


There are at least a dozen buds on the Hibiscus Red ...

 

Just a few pictures not much else showing.

 

Grevillea and kniphofia still flowering, and unknown elwesii type galanthus now we'll into its stride.

 

Rhipsalis cereuscula - only two flowers this time but it never has many.
It also has some mealy bugs I've noticed, so they'll be treated soon.

There's another one in the unheated greenhouse and it still looks good, in spite of the very low temperatures. I was going to bring it inside but I forgot.

Kalanchoe Orange budding up nicely on a South West window ledge ...


Schlumbergera opening a few buds on a North facing ledge ...

 

A couple of plants in the greenhouse: yellow primula that was moved into pot for overwintering, it smells lovely like freesias, and very fragrant sarcococca.

 

Not looking good.....
