    Hi,

the garden centres and supermarkets are already selling primulas in my area (Yorkshire area ). I was wondering if it’s too early to pot them in baskets outdoors as we’ve been getting minus 3 at night and barely over 7 c in morning ? Are they quite hardy in January & February? Thanks

Primulas are very Hardy planta & will survive much colder conditions. However I think if you have only just bought some I would wait until the current cold spell comes to an end. Can you find a sheltered place to keep them for the coming week or 10 days? This will give them time to adapt to the colder conditions without having to sit in cold freezing compost. They will grow much better if put in the hanging baskets in a week or 10 days time.

They will have been brought on with some protection which means the growth will be soft and they need to harden up before putting them outside in the worst of the weather, as @Balc says.

They might even appear to look the worst for wear for a few weeks anyway.
I see them as spring flowering plants but garden centres always bring plants on early.
