It's 4 years since Beryl had that stroke that took her away from me, and I felt miserable, so I went out and had dinner in a nice cafe in a small local town.
It's was a lovely day with blue skies and not feeling at all cold, so after my dinner I went for a walk around and I treated myself to an iced bun in a bakery (really pushing the boat out now :heehee:), and I had it with a cappachino after coming home.
I came home to find a Mahonia I'd ordered on line had arrived and that made me feel better too. B enjoyed the garden, like me, and she would have been excited, like me, to receive the plant.
I'll take a photo of it after I've charged up the batteries of my camera.

Bless you Michael these anniversaries come and knock us for six don't they:sad:. You did the right thing taking yourself out, she's always with you but the sadness mustn't be allowed to swallow you up...surrounding yourself with the comings and goings of town and the cafe was a great idea.

May is my downer month..so I keep busy with my seedlings and days out if possible.
      Love and hugs :grphg:xx

Not particularly @Upsydaisy. I only thought of it because you mentioned surrounding myself with the comings and goings of town being a good idea. The lyrics seemed to suit my day yesterday
I remember buying the record of it many years ago. I think I've still got it, in a box under the stairs.

Ah yes I see what you mean Michael . Some songs are so very apt for certain times in our lives....it's as if they were written for us .

                Star Wars - for real...

A new military laser weapon has burned through and destroyed targets from miles away during a trial in the Scottish Hebrides.

The ground-breaking piece of machinery, which has been named 'DragonFire', is able to deliver a high power laser equivalent to hitting a £1 coin from a kilometre away.

It has been heralded as a "major defence milestone" after it achieved the UK’s first high-power firing of a laser weapon.

Went to Costco and miraculously only spent £150, including a full tank of petrol. That place is dangerous

Then went for a walk next to Loch Carron, a reservoir 1000002473-01.jpeg

Popped round for a chat with one of the neighbours. He's having solar panels installed - which includes battery back-up if the power goes off. For FREE. Good idea I thought.

The other neighbour has had solar panels and a new boiler and radiators installed - all for FREE - paid for by Rishi - because they are in their 70's.

Tchin  The usual roasting gently in the sun, swimming, examining local flora etc here. This was a gift from mine hosts this a.m. From the garden. I'm jealous... 20240121_203116.jpg

Just finished a murder mystery book. 'A spoonful of murder' by J.M. Hall.

It's bad. I won't be reading the 2 other books in the series.

It's been likened to the Richard Osman books - the Thursday murder club. Having read these I can tell you that this is like saying that a mini metro is the same as a Jag - they are not the same...

Thought that we would pop into the local 'community cafe' for a spot of lunch. I ordered a meat feast pizza - goodness me - it was a world away from the tat that you can buy in the shops - freshly hand made there and then. They also have an on-site bakery where you can purchase bread and cakes. I couldn't resist their lemon cake :birthday:- and here it is - it won't be around for much longer though - the kettle is on :coffee:

A runaway pet rabbit was rescued from the traffic, brought into our hose to rest in the Degus' playpen area, postered and advertised in local social media, and re-homed to the grateful owners all meanwhile I was merrily at work upstairs.

                              Well done, Child :)

It's been a very busy for me as I am trying to get in about 6 hours of studying a day.

I decided to take a course in Pesticide us and control, thinking it was not much more than a few seminars of useful information. No. It is an intense course run by the University of Guelph in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture.

I've got to go through the whole manual again, to try to get all of the facts into my noggin before the exam a week from today. I'm getting pretty good at the calculations for dousing cattle, fumigating barns and crops, etc. Having never seen the equipment in real life makes it a little more difficult to understand all the working parts. Well, I'll either pass or fail :rolleyespink:
