Monday, 8:45 Am here. Snow staying on the ground, 15 degrees here.
Have to make my way down the driveway to put bills in the mail box soon. Thank goodness my neighbor plowed the drive for us. Late yesterday refilled bird feeders, so they are at it today.

I also been going through Jewellery ( off and on). giving away "young" type to neighbors daughter, she loves it she says. Have more expensive stuff so-- thinking of mailing those my young female 2nd cousins. @Victoria . Been looking at Facebook Market to put some stuff on it to sell, always a process. So much just to get rid of in general. The accumulation of stuff is nuts.

    Have a grand day all.

We're in for a damp day today:rain: , so not much going on here today. The winds return this evening too.

I have some pretty wool so may start another cowl and fingerless glove set. I finished the 2nd neck warmer for hubs yesterday.

I will also get cosy in the greenhouse to do some more seed compost prepping .....if my poor achy arms can cope.

What do you all have as your first drink at breakfast ??
I have a big mug of hot water before eating then a mug of tea afterwards. I love coffee but for some strange reason not as my first drink of the day. My early morning cuppa theme just made me wonder which was your preferred first drink .:coffee:

      Have a good one!!

Here are some cute furry butterball bebes

Classy cup Upsy. I drink a mug of peppermint tea about 8.15am and have a biscuit with it. J has an espresso, those shotglass size very strong suppose to wake you up drinks with a biscuit. He has his own machine. Folk don't drink teas or coffees as they do in the UK.
Starting our day with 10c going to 20c and it is forecast to be warm and sunny here all week.

Another noisy and windy evening which thankfully resulted in no further damage..mind you as our fence is still laying in a state of collapse there wasn't much more it could do really. :heehee:

Not a bad day today judging by our forecast. Hopefully a few hours out in the garden...probably sweeping up yet more leaves that were blown in yesterday!!

Need to phone the management at my brother's place to see if the restrictions on visiting has be lifted yet. So looking forward to seeing him as it's now been 5 wks since our last visit with him......so :fingers crossed::fingers crossed::fingers crossed:

Vicky what do they drink over there then if not tea or coffee?

Spoke with our youngest yesterday lunchtime he was sat in the shade of a tree on a beach drinking ice cold fresh Coconut water straight from the nut itself .Temps were in the mid 30's.:phew:

redstar the trivia club sounds interesting.

            Have a brilliant everyone.

Morning all. A warm week here with temps around 20.

I am not saying they don't drink tea or coffee, not as much or often, For the most part coffees are silly little strong espressos and tea is not the thing and if drunk it is camomile or mint. They drink a lot of water. When builders arrive in the UK they are catered to with tea/coffee on arrival and at various intervals. Here they bring their own water and for lunch go to a local cafe/restaurants ... unless they are British (of which there are many) and then they expect to be treated as such. When we had people quote for some works, one was British and as he entered the door he said to me "Love, put the kettle on". He did not get the job. British here ask for an Americano which is a standard coffee with milk. If tea they will ask for a black tea (English without milk) and it may not be available.

J to Dentist this morning at ten for one tooth removal and plate fitting ... so this afternoon will be a write off!

Hope you get some gardening done Upsy. I can't believe it is five weeks since you have visited R so hope all is sorted there now.

                Morning Vicky.

Hope all goes well for J today.

We've never had builders that expect refreshments , I think over here we're just brought up to offer them to all who come. Most have their own flasks with them.....but flasked drinks are not really very nice, you can't beat a freshly made cup of anything imo.

I know!!! It was 5 weeks yesterday that we last saw R...can't believe it myself !!! So want to see him with my own eyes. I've tried several times to make video calls to him but the process of answering such a call is too baffling to him now. It's pot luck as to whether he answers a normal phone call too.

Lovely day here today with beautiful sunshine and not cold at all ...so yes a day in the garden is looking very likely indeed.

I bought all my hanging basket and tub seeds last week and some more Gladioli bulbs too. So I'm definitely getting my mindset into to the new season 's growing mode. :hapydancsmil:

Still have a way to go yet with making up the seed sowing compost though.....doing little batches at a time to save my poor arms.:blue thumb:

Have a super day yourselves...well once he's been to the Dentist I'm sure J will too.:fingers crossed:
                xx

Wednesday, melting continues. all the ice sickles have fallen off the roof edges.
                  38 degrees here.
Chess Club, won two, two different people. Just some house stuff planned today, cleaning. Really got to clean out drawers also. Boring .

We did have two regular construction workers/builders that I would make up a big thermos of coffee for them, and offer just some extra mugs. They liked black coffee. Seemed thankful for it. Other than that some sort quick workers I don't offer anything, such as the guys that put up new gutters last year.
                  Take care all.

Afterwards we're going into Southampton as we have an appointment . Then we'll go somewhere for a meal.

Morning Upsy and all who follow.

It is bright and sunny and we could go to 24c today!

J had a tooth pulled and the bridge fitted so he slept for an hour or so after lunch ... Lemon Sorbet for J. Then he took the bridge out because it hurt. It seems dumb to me to fit a bridge over stitches. He goes for stitches out next Wednesday. I don't know yet if he is doing anything today but he said his face hurts.

Hope you have a good journey and visit Upsy and that R is okay. Enjoy your meal.

Thursday, 9:30Am. warm rain all night, all the white snow totally gone, just mushed out soggy looking leaves in some areas. I am hoping about Saturday it will dry enough so I can go about and pick up the dropped branches all over.
Tonight going to my first Trivia P. meet up. So nice that the group wants to include me, a very nice group of folks indeed. Hope I don't let them down.
Also soon to attend the Robert Burns party, 2/4. I go every year, its only 5 mins from me. nice folks, good food and music.
                          Have a good day all.

Enjoyed seeing my brother yesterday, he seemed in good spirits. Unfortunately his mobility had deteriorated considerably and he can no longer make it to restaurant for his meals so they bring them to him. I hoping that once his new wheelchair arrives that he'll be encouraged to resume eating at the restaurant as I think he needs to socialise a bit every day.......even for just an hour plus have a change of scenery too.

Off to a fairly local garden centre today ...just to browse ;). It's tucked away in a remote area and this will be our first attempt at visiting it by bus and means a bit of a walk at both ends and catching 2 buses....so :fingers crossed:.

We have beautifully sunny day ahead , perfect for sn adventure!!!:SUNsmile:

                            Enjoy your Friday.

Pleased the visit to R went well Upsy but sorry to hear his mobility has deteriated. Can he not manage with his old wheelchair now? Is the new one a mobilty type like a four-wheeled scooter?

Enjoy the Garden Center. Maybe I can talk J into taking me to one next week.''J meeting John, Mike and Ian today. Mike is an ex-business partner of John from the 80s/90s but they lost touch, Then Mike's husband died and they were living in Santana da Serra, North of here and John sent condolences so Mike contacted him and now has moved to Alcantarilha down here. He has been joining John and J since December. J is not so keen, but .....! Ian is a friend of ours from The River, a Canadian, who has now moved to near Victoria's where they will meet. Ian has a wife Jan (English), not my favourite person.

I will go out and potter for a while before J leaves.

                                Good day
It is very mild (35f 2c) and foggy again. It seems weird taking the recycle to the kerb at this time of year with only little bits of snow here and there.

@Upsydaisy I hope the new wheelchair will encourage your brother to socialize and get out of his unit more. And a visit to the garden center. How nice!

@Victoria it is a good thing that your custom is not to go to every lunch. It makes it a lot easier to skip going particularly when there is going to be an attendee that you don't care for.

I have decided to exercise the "ignore" button so as to go back to enjoying meeting up in various social scenarios.

Some of my seedlings are doing really well. And this weekend I will be making a batch of marmalade. Yum. I could slather that on toast and inch thick but, no, I don't want to have to go out and buy bigger pants!

                                Cheers all :coffee:
