That's good, looked on YouTube there's a lot of videos about this make of sewing machine.

 

@Drahcir it is important to use only sewing machine oil. I have about a dozen machines of various makes which are either domestic or industrial and keeping them oiled is just as important as keeping them clean.

And yes, finding the manual is key. The most important part of the machine, aside from the motor, is the tensioning. If you get it threaded right and the tension is calibrated properly, you've got easy sewing

 

Still in the goal of Getting rid of stuff around the house continues--- Now we are on to selling all the Corvette 1964 C2 parts, checking books for prices etc. On a few Corvette facebooks to advertise. Last year we sold a bunch of parts to a builder in Vermont. We were able to meet up with him past September to see his car he built using our girls parts. Our girl also in the show won top car of the whole 3,000 cars there. But we have more parts and these are original parts, so some purist out there will be happy. Also some good clean out of antiques in basement to an auction again, and posting more things on Facebook market place. And posting items on the Nippon site to sell. Onward. Getting rid. This should keep me busy until it dries outside some for more garden clean up.

 

No i haven't seen that model, but it all depends on what you have to do.

I've just frozen a lot of chopped garlic that was starting to grow.

 

I'd second all that. I inherited my great-great-aunt's Singer in it's beautiful wooden cabinet. It survived 2 years in a caravan awning, as well as various rodent attacks, but has suffered with the underfloor heating in the house. The original manual has survived (just) but was nibbled by mice. Fortunately, the pages with the tensioning instructions are still just about legible. Boy, are they fragile, though The machine still works infinitely better than the modern, electric Singer used by my Mum.

 

This year we might get a new golden retriever puppy. Phoned the breeder up last Wednesday but the mom to be hasn't come into season yet maybe the end of next month, it all depends on the weather. But hopefully we'll have one in may or June.

 

Just finished 'The cornish wedding murder' book. Good read, but not as good as Richard Osman, but am going to download book 2 on kindle.

 

Went for a walk near Aberfoyle. This area was good for mushrooms a few years ago the last time I was there with mature spruce trees. Unfortunately it's run by an estate and they are practicing typical monoculture forestry, they've stripped the whole area.

 

That's because it's probably used for timber products, like fences and pallets, plus other things.
It's a shame, perhaps they'll plant more.

 

That looks awful @Hanglow !! It's a very worrying practice. Monoculture forests remove less Carbon from the atmosphere that the more diverse forests .........something we definitely don't want to see!!!

Biodiversity is something that should be of paramount importance in this day and age.

Studies have found that forests that contain at least 4 tree species was the ideal for achieving the best amount of carbon storage.

Diverse forests are not a match they are the proven best!! ....they sustain more wildlife and are much nicer to see and walk through too....all added bonuses imo. Winners all round.

 

I think it looks terrible but you need to remember it's grown as a crop much the same as other crops.
I was under the impression that there was a push to plant other trees rather than conifers but I think hardwoods take longer to reach maturity.
Apart from perhaps coppicing which still looks pretty awful when just done.

I hate to see this kind of thing in countries that have old natural growth forests which they clear fell just for profit.

 

Coppicing is carried out in our local parkland...as you say not pretty but a better alternative that a monoculture parkland to ...not enjoy.
