Lovely @CarolineL ,you are more advanced than us ,our Camellia is full of buds but no blooms yet and as for our Irises..just a few leaves poking through.

Thank you Upsy. From our overcast start to the day we migrated into a very warm afternoon for February, 19.4c now. I sat under it and had to have J cut a 6 foot-ish branch/stem that had shot out if it! Plus I cut back some of the Hibiscus in the ground underneath.

@Upsydaisy - camellias have been flowering here since before Christmas - I've seen loads. A shame, because there will be a spring gap

Do they not flower at different times depending on variety, although the weather does have some effect, for instance, even in really mild winters my couple of plants never flower before late February at the earliest and even then its usually April before they are in full flow.

Camellia sasanqua types typically flower in winter, Other species flower in spring.

Spring is a bit of a long period to be honest and I think there are earlier and later varieties, I've seen some, not many, around here that are flowering, but mine are not, I think most people dont grow the earlier types around here because the chance of frost browning the flowers is too great.

In previous years, these camellias have been proper spring ones. My white anemone flowered one is normally a few weeks ahead of Nuccios Pearl, but they are definitely spring flowering. Yet this year I've even seen Donation in flower by start of Feb

The first flower on my C.w. 'Anticipation' opened earlier this week. It does seem a bit early, but it's turned very mild here, so a lot of plants are bursting into life :)

The buds are just showing colour on mine, which is pretty normal for around now except in very cold winters.
I had one flower come out before Christmas but it was small and was obviously deformed.
