What are we doing in the garden 2024

Well done @Retired and @Selleri i hope that you feel better soon.

It was dry today so i did a bit of weeding in the front garden. Hubby bought 3 pots of hyacinths with 3 bulbs in each from Morrisons £3. each pot so i planted them in the back.
In the front garden i planted some potted crocus that i did in the autumn, they don't look much at the moment.

 

Nothing doing on the balcony today & probably nothing tomorrow either.

That is one nice gram @shiney Years ago these were in fashion but with the passage of time faded out which is a shame considering the amount of skill and work put in to make them. How truly sad it is such beautiful items are worth less than a mobile phone these days. At one point I had around 70 vintage radios in my collection; I'd restored these over ten years whilst enjoying vintage radio restoration as my hobby. Absolutely nothing seems of value these days living in a throw away society. Even electric cars are now throw away in ten years when they need a new battery. Thankfully weeds will never go out of fashion.

The gardens are awash again this morning after more overnight rain; if we ever have two consecutive dry days then we're short of water with an hosepipe ban, not many hose pipes or watering cans are sold in Yorkshire for garden use.

I only potted on some geraniums which were from cuttings.

 

More leaf removal. Trying to get as much done before rain on Tuesday.

@Logan , I have a bunch of crocus coming up now, and big patches of snow drops all in bloom.

Been tiding up the plant hoards and got them on in one space somehow like magic , I did have to move my dad flail mower attachment weighed a ton nearly pulled my back out . Hopefully be having a log burner installed soon so I need the space for storing wood, its costing an arm and a leg I need a twin wall chimney attaching . Its unlikely I'll be buying anymore plants anytime soon .

I finished off building my mum archway yesterday in the front garden , its to put some roses on . I'll get a picture next time I am round, looks like a mini pergola to honest.

 

Tidied up the allotment, took eight bags full of rubbish to the tip. Picked a Swede. Emptied out and cleaned a water butt. I'd expanded a path with cardboard and woodchips last autumn and now there's a load of growth poking through, I forgot I had a daffodil and tulip bed there. I also found a shower door in a skip and am wondering if I should make a cold frame from it

 

Did some much-needed Canna thinning near the pool as it's too wet and soggy everywhere else. The ground-level guttering which diverts excess water and edges the bed was lifted, re-joined and re-set to be more effective. I'm not saying the soil's wet but found an enormous leech living amongst the Canna rhizomes
Yanked out a barrowload of Ipomoea indica stems which were sneakily rooting at the foot of the wall, but it's a complete thug and no doubt will bounce back twice as hard in spring.

 

It's predictably wet most days, but there is a definite plan of action as soon as I can get out there, initially to cut back and tidy up.

 

That's great, they're a real pickme up this time of year.

 

Yesterday i tied up some more of the Loganberries up.

 

Going to pot up my Begonias. I will tip out and check over the few Dahlia tubers that are still in pots , they will get re potted until I locate a permanent home for them out in the borders. Will probably sow a couple more trays of seeds too. Still debating with myself as to whether I will grow the Gladioli in the borders again or in pots. I like the idea of pots as they can be poked into any gaps that develop. I will mull it over.
