    Hello all

    I hope you are well.

I have been looking around at the Garden to see what exactly needs doing, one Plant I need some advice with is 'Cotton Lavender'.

It has not been Pruned for the Last Year and is looking dishevelled, to say the least:

Can this be Hard Pruned and if so, when would be the Best Time to do it?

    Thanks in advance

    Kevin

I'm not sure, I think the usual advise is to prune lightly after flowering, but its not something I grow really.
If it was mine I'd cut half of it back hard and see what happens.
If its ok and sprouts good new shoots from the old wood you can cut the other half back next year.

Would be inclined to go back to the stem for the lower third around its circumference. The upper branches will take their place, opening the centre to new growth. Lightly trim any straggling bits. It should be done after flowering-say October next autumn.

I grow a santolina and treat it a bit like lavender. I cut it back hard each year in Spring. I always take mine back to just above a shoot. It is quite a few years old now so has survived the vagaries of all sorts of horrendous weather.

    Hello

I have not Cut it Back too much, just enough to Tidy it.

    Much Better :)

It has New Growth which is always a Good sign.

I may be more Drastic Next Year, I will see how it goes.

    Thanks

    Kevin
