It's like the scrappage scheme, how many vehicles actually get scrapped or end up in other Countries. We had to write off our Scania last year due to a blown engine and I could not justify the cost of a refurb. I only got £1200, I was gutted, I only had a new body fitted to the wagon 14 months earlier at a cost of £20,000 exc vat. We had to avoid low emissions zones with that truck but it is actually now in Africa, how many other vehicles are now getting shipped abroad due to emission regs in the UK

Even our old diesel locos are going abroad - HST's are currently heading out of the country

So bearing in mind all of this is global, how are we saving the planet by selling our old polluting stuff abroad.

For the first time in months I saw an advertisement on TV specifically selling a petrol car (can't remember which manufacturer) but it seems indicative, to me, that maybe EV's aren't selling and they're trying to get a quick jump back into the petrol market before other manufacturers do so.

I do my bit for the planet but am certainly not paying out for an over expensive electric car when I have a perfectly serviceable one already and it should keep going quite happily for another ten years :fingers crossed:.

Scrapping/discarding anything when it still works well is an anathema to me! :)

About the same as it was when I was at school, but I cant remember how much it was, it was fairly small in comparison to Nitrogen and Oxygen.

I saw a post on facebook today regarding a heavy haulage company, it looked like a diesel loco bound for Mexico, of all places.
