There was quite a difference on that walk which goes from the forestry commission forests in the national park which are selectively felled and that private estate. I wonder what the difference in profit is. Must be quite hard to work out what you'd make 30 years from now!

They plant conifers for fast growing to cut down to use for anything that's wooden or toilet paper.

20240202_160208.jpg I picked up the spool racks (4) and added them to the ones I already had and still could have used a couple more but it does look grand!

Went for a walk near what remains of Castle Dangerous, a castle featured in Sir Walter Scot's novel of the same name. Can't say I've read it

Viewed another house. I have seen a thing or two and am not at all put off with an idea to do things up quite a lot if the house and the price are right. This house was quirky enough and well connected with just 20 mins by bus or metro to city centre.

However, this is something I wasn't expecting to see in a messy corner of a small suburban back garden. (I blacked the name out)

House hunting gives interesting, funny, sad and unexpected insights into how people live their lives.

I 'm house hunting...online!! :heehee: Although I adore where we are the house is too big and I would love a smaller property but I know we won't find anything in such a beautiful area. . Hubs is definitely not keen at the idea at all......so online only house hunting for me it is.
Exciting times for you @Selleri I hope you soon find the right house.:)

Oh I very much doubt that we will move @Logan ...it's just me attempting to wear my practical head that's all. Deep down I know it would prove too heart wrenching .
I personally prefer to go and physically look at properties rather than doing it online .It seems we do this every couple of years, we viewed quite a few just before lockdown. Just like having a nosey really. :roflol:

Oh ok, @Upsydaisy it's very difficult to move, it's so time consuming and the chain can break at any point.
We were very lucky with this house, the couple who owned it had split up and went back to their parents. The house that we were selling the buyer was a first time buyer. We also had the opportunity to buy the leasehold, it was only a £100. about 30 years ago.

When houses go up for sale here we always have a look online to see what they're like.

Our house was empty as the old lady had moved into a local nursing home. She was a local Headmistress and someone tried to guzump us by offering above asking price but she told the estate agents that she wanted us ' the young couple to have it' . Mind you is was only a small farmworkers cottage back then...42 years ago!!!

It certainly isn't a fun thing to undertake, sometimes it goes smoothly then other times it can seem full of hitches. Having recently bought and sold property on behalf of my brother and selling our parents property I don't really relish the idea of going through it all again ....or do I ...hmmm:scratch:

If your not 100% stay put would be my advice.
I nearly sold up and moved in 2000, glad I didn't now.
