After a good rain in the night we have a sunny start with a light breeze and 10c with the possibility of a shower.

The Squeak left here around 3am and came back about 8am. Bless, where does he live and is he being fed properly. J has been giving him a small snack about twice a week.

Nothing on the cards here today.

      Good day
It is only just below freezing so I only had to dump a bit of hot water on the bird drinking dish to get rid of the ice.

I'm glad you've had some water in the night @Victoria . That's the way it should be. We should have a steady rain between 2 and 4 a.m. and then be sunny all day.

@Flumpy it is good also when it rains at a time when you have to be inside anyway. Being paid to be indoors working on crappy weather days is a bonus. :)

@Upsydaisy I have two small loads of laundry left and one is already in the washer. It all feels too easy :noidea: so I know how you're feeling. Cautious and wondering- is there another shoe to drop?

The boiler iron is up to pressure and I'll start on those linen treatments today. I'm not feeling enthusiastic about it but Em needs new shoes and we all know that those are not cheap. This job will help pay for those. :dbgrtmb:

      Cheers :coffee:

        Good morning everybody.

        How's everyone today?

We're in for a cloudy but :fingers crossed: dry day and hopefully a lot less windy too.

Managed to get 3 loads of laundry washed and dried yesterday , but had to open a new pkt of pegs to ensure everything stayed securely in place on the line. Everything was flapping about so wildly that I had to keep checking on one of the security cameras to make sure that no items had taken off in flight.:heehee:
Later when I was out in the garden it was less stressful as I could keep an eye on things more easily.

Despite the wind chill the greenhouse was a toasty 32C. Unfortunately though this meant it was too warm for my seedlings and I didn't want to open a window or door in case the wind caused a blow out.

If things do stay calm today then hopefully a good chunk of my day will be on continuing the border prepping and maybe doing a bit in the greenhouse too.

Lori how are the Cleome doing in your fridge, any signs of life?

Well this won't do I must get on as I have some vacuuming to finish before I can escape to the garden.

        Have a lovely day.

The gusty wind continued through the night alerted by my capiz windchime in the bedroom windchime and The Squeak who appeared to be camped on the bedroom ledge ... I don;t know if hr went "gome" last night. Does he have a home? I saif to J we should adopt him ... nut I got no answer.

J is not well this morning ... he has a cold, headache, snotty nose, sore throat, his gums hurt where he doesn't have teeth, a splinter in his finger (which he just got out) his gout is playing up, he is tired ... wjat can I say?

I muat get out and check my nursery in my new little propagator s these temps, vurrently 8c are very cold for us.

          Have a good one.

            Morning Vicky.

Sorry to hear that J is feeling under the weather, sounds like he has a lot going on all at the same time, not good.....for either of you!

Could you ask around a bit to see if anyone knows anything about Squeak, it would be a shame if s/he hasn't got a home to return to each night. Certainly latched onto you and feels safe and content. :cat-kittyandsmiley:

Hope all you tender plants are Ok.:fingers crossed:

Just stopped for a cup of tea ,only have the landing and stairs to vacuum then I'm all done with indoor tasks for the day.

It's not bad out there with hazy sunshine so the garden is beckoning to me.:dig:

Take care both of you xx

              Morning, just Upsy.

J is lying down on the sofa now ... with Munchkin on top of him. He got the fire going I got out and checked and everything is okay, watered a few the rain missed.

There are two residents further down the lane, the new person (a white haired lady) and the farmer. J is in contact with the owner of the house with the lady (who disappears most days) and I have suggested twice he contact Rogerio and enquire ... but ... The farmer is the other and there are shouts of Ola when he passes, but ... I suggested he put our notice up again, but ... I said to him this morning we should adopt him, but .... I cannot do anything as I cannot walk on these dirt tracks even with a walker. I will keep harping. Both Van and Munchkin came to say hello when I was out but no The Squeak ... I think he has gone "home" for a couple of hours.

J heard nothing from the Council re the car (and he is not good on following things through_ so I suggested he contact the Cat Charity we support. He heard back from them this morning and they will take it (they travel all over to feed cats at various colony locations, vets, etc), and give tax receipt. They asked for phone number to arrange collection ... but he has not responded yet )sigh). As he hasn't taken all the crochet I did last year for them, I asked him to get that out for me, so it can go in the car. But ...

Hope you get some time in the garden today. Vxx

                Good day
It is warm this morning, 40F 4C and rising! The sun is making a nice display but the guessers say that by the afternoon we will be covered in clouds wringing their contents onto us.

@Upsydaisy the pipe that I encased in cement bricks and buried to hold the umbrella clothes dryer plays double duty. When it gets cold in the fall, I switch out the dryer for the bird feeder. So I have removed the opportunity to dry outdoors even when there is a nice winter day. But no matter. I like the birds very much. The cleome decided not to do anything! The "shells" opened and nothing spilled out - no sprouts. So I have another batch on damp soil in the fridge, and have sown some more seeds that were in the fridge, onto damp soil and sitting on the counter in a clamshell. "Ever Hopeful Lori", is what I am!

@Victoria J sounds to be in a sorry state. And usually that sex is a very "needy" patient. I hope he gets better soon!

I have a fairly nice day planned. I have a few adjustments to make on the privacy drapes in the cellar. I had made a new section to add and give fuller coverage. So more ladder work for me. I also need to visit a couple of shops to get some adhesive cement for a job and a few other little things.

                Keep well. Cheers :coffee:

Hi Lori ....just a suggestion here but did you store the Cleome seeds in the fridge prior to sowing them?
If you did then I wouldn't put them back there now sown. I didn't put mine back , I just placed the tray on a shelf over the lounge heater during the day and removed it mid evening over to the coffee table that is away from the heater. This was to mimic a slight drop in temps overnight. They all germinated within a week. If you have plenty of seeds it might be worth a try...if not I'll send you some.:blue thumb:

Actually what I did was sow the unrefrigerated seed on damp soil and then put it in the fridge. This is now my second go with that. I also sowed refrigerated seeds onto damp room-temperature soil.

So I'll move the one on the counter to a cooler spot at night as you suggest. Thank you for that tip.

I had some things at the back of the counter because the under-cabinet valance lighting is equipped with grow/aquarium fluorescent tubes. The marble backsplash looks grey without the different lighting so the "pinkish" tone of these lights brings out some really lovely fine veins of black/purple :)

                      Morning Lori.
I pampered "needy" for 50 years, but I cannot do it now. He got up and made me and himself tea and put a log on the fire but now he and Munchkin are back lying down. I sound unsensitive, but I don't care.
                      Have a good day.

Try putting the seeds you have already sown in the fridge overnight only and on the counter during the day. It's just a case of finding what works in your environment..light and temps. You'll crack it soon :dbgrtmb:.

I'm interested to see if I get any self showers out in the garden...:fingers crossed:

                        Enjoy your day.

                          Tuesday.
Beautiful weather today. Will be out most of it raking etc.
Got a new vacuum today, chose a Miele this time. My exciting life. LOL.
Still have taxes to deal with, whenever I decide to work on that, back at it.
Might miss Chess Club day, weather to nice to stop and get dressed for that ect., especially after garden stuff.
Oh, yes, my husband finally came to the realization of what I told him 9 months ago that the property manager for our Airbnb is dense/not too skilled etc. guess those many years of hiring, firing, training has taught me some good gut stuff, but will he listen, No way. Whatever--Men.
                          Have a good one all.

Good morning to one and all.

After what turned out to be a lovely day yesterday we're back with the promise of light wet stuff today. Our next dry day ,as it stands at the moment, is Sunday.

Vicky how is the patient today and how is your patience coping? I have my fingers crossed that J has woken up this morning feeling much better.:fingers crossed::fingers crossed::fingers crossed::fingers crossed:

Once again due to our iffy weather it's going to be a day of going with the flow , the good thing is that at least I can escape to the greenhouse if need be. :dbgrtmb:.

I hope you all have a nice day.

                              Good Morning Sun.jpg

It is bright and breezy this morning.

Thank you for asking Upsy. No change but he hasn't spoken yet after 30 minutes, just making snotty head noises, no response after me suggesting he have a ginger tea (that means no). Today will be like yesterday, him sleeping and boring for me when he's awake on his phone scrolling (searching to buy guitars).

I may look for greetings today, but I don't have much/anything positive to say these days.

                                Good day
It is ridiculously warm. 54f 11c. The gods are making us pay for the heat by alternating between pounding rain, hail, and sleet. It is amazing to see lightning in February but we had lots last night.

I'm sorry to hear J is still under a cloud of snot @Victoria . And I'm truly sorry for you. Someone juggling phlegm balls is a very ugly sound !

I'm going to install the linen shades this morning and then grab a few groceries on the way home. I hope I get a few dry breaks while traveling.

                                Cheers:coffee:
