I see that the 'Winnie the Pooh' movie has swept the floor with the competition - at the 2024 Razzie awards. I'll have to put some time aside to see this movie...

Had a drive out up through Alentejo, the Province above Algarve. It had just started to rain as we left home and had a quick downpour along the way but then all blue skies and sunshine the rest of the way and all the way back. The contrast between the Provinces is quite drastic. Our part, ie, Central Algarve is green and hilly, Alentejo is flat and very agricultural where you look for miles to see the farmhouse a white blot on the horizon, in between crops, cattle, sheep and black pigs. There are lots of storks in Alentejo in the area we travelled and at one place called Mimosa there is this wonderful "Arvore de Cegonha "Stork tree" .....

        A lovely drive out.

Got my eyes checked in line with my commitment I made when I turned 50 to keep various body parts checked regularly. So far I'm doing fairly well with the MOTs, apart from hairdressers.

The visit turned out to be an exercise of mental maths when I was browsing new frames before my eye check and found rather nice ones in their £15 range. The shop assistant rushed over to inform me that as my current lenses are special thin I might be interested in their offer of thin lenses which have three categories, thin (£60), very thin (£90) and ultimate thin (£140).

Instead of the regular 2-for1 offer on frames I could select one frame from the over £69 range and get the basic thinning of lenses for free (one pair only)

          or

Select a frame from the over £69 range and select a "very thin" or "ultimate" thinning option and get £60 off.

Sadly, my favourite frame was in the £15 range which wouldn't qualify for the thin lens offer but obviously if I selected a frame from the £69 range and got the £60 off, the posher frame would cost only £9.

Calculate and optimise profit, Selleri, calculate...

And then I had my test and it turned out that I don't need new glasses, my old ones are just fine. :noidea:

I've joined an art group in a local town, first time there this afternoon.
I wish I didn't suffer from such high levels of anxiety, I'm feeling quite panicky ... 100s of butterflies in my stomach and in my head, and I want to run away !
I can't see the point in being like this, it's horrible :frown:

Don't run away, you will only regret it and afterwards you will feel even worse.

Just tell yourself you are only going once to see what it's like if you feel bad you can always leave, but I'm sure once you get there you will begin to enjoy it.

Just my thoughts, I've always been hesitant myself at anything new.

I feel for you Michael. I don't like being around strange people with new things. How did it go?

Thanks, that's true enough. I'll feel better when I'm there. It's the thought of it that makes me panic.
It's this afternoon. I never know what to say to people. Typing words on a screen isn't the same as meeting someone in person.

I'm sure that you'll feel better when you get there, it will be the same for others there, I'm sure that they'll be busy with what they're doing, you're doing the right thing in going, enjoy yourself.

Thank you @Logan Since Beryl died I'm on my own a lot and I have been feeling isolated lately, so I decided to join a group doing something I enjoy.

You are not alone there, I've never been the ice breaker and find I cant talk about nothing, starting conversations has always been difficult for me.

I think its called small talk, just cant do it.

Once the ice is broken I'm usually OK.

Having the same interests always makes it easier.

I went to the art group, they were very friendly and very chatty, made me feel quite at home. I didn't say much because that's how I am, but they didn't mind about that.
I took a few things along that I'd done a while ago, for them to see, and they were very impressed. They said I had a delicate touch
They all did their own thing - no teacher, just do what you want, so I did another painting while I was there.
