I put sticks with all the clumps of Snowdrops so that I can find them easilly. I want to rearrange them this year. I'll be doing it soon, before they die back.

After yesterday rather confusing post here a picture.

Finished the first step this afternoon took a lot longer than expected, fortunately I didn't pull my back out lifting that big stone up multiple times seen as it didn't want to sit level.

You can see how the ground raises up, I am going to scrap the grass/soil off level to the bottom of the first step which you can see in the second picture . I should of levelled first really but I were being a tad lazy and didn't want a mud bath but it starting to become one now.

Cannibalised a stone path I had under the little pergola you can see in the first picture , desperate for more stone which a refuse to buy . Where I live its nicknamed Valley of stone its literally everywhere cast aside like waste but costs a arm and a leg to buy . I do want to patio the entire lower grass area but at £70+ per square yard for stone slabs it might be a while yet.

Just like to say I put a couple of steps in on my garden years ago.

One of the last things I did before packing up work was to make a wooden ramp to fit over them.
As you get older the last thing you want is to keep trying to get wheelbarrows up and down steps, slopes are much better.;)

The lower 16 inches or so of my house is rendered and to help stop frost attacking it has masonry paint to give it some protection. Today I sanded parts of it and gave the same a coat of paint expecting to put a top coat on when dry. I then checked the tin - four to six hours drying time so the second coat will happen tomorrow. :frown:

Having abandoned the painting, the front lawns and drive are now clear of tree debris and hundreds of pine cones.

Nothing am as it's main housework morning and laundry. As it's still tipping it down it would make an ideal time to pressure wash the patios:fingers crossed:..if not all of them then hopefully the kitchen one as that is lethal to walk on ! Hubs will do it and I will supervise :heehee:.

As it was raining, I gave my kentia palm a shower outside to wash all the dust off!

As instructed by @noisette47  I finished cutting down the eucalyptus tree to a more sensible height, we will now wait for it to sprout.
I just wonder if this is in response to that banana she destroyed a few years ago. DSC05016.JPG

I think its E. gunnii. I grew it from seed about 20 yrs ago.

I destroyed?? Moi???? :yikes: Who said it would die anyway, hmmm? It's funny you posting this just now. I was only looking at the dead stump of a Eucalyptus neglecta a couple of days ago which I'd chopped in the belief that it would sprout like anything :roflol:
At least if you get some nasty frosts, you'll be able to cover the tender new shoots to protect them :)

Planting today :hapydancsmil:. It's hard work without the ride-on and trailer, but after adding barrowloads of topsoil, compost and sand to the disgustingly wet border soil, I managed to get an Eriostemon and Tree Paeony in to replace what used to be my favourite Cistus (RIP). Unwrapped a few tender plants and did cuttings of Pandorea, potted ginger and galangal, then tackled the Agaves at the front of the house. They look so tatty after one of the wettest winters I've known here. Much better once the soggy leaves and runners were removed!
