Gardeners World forum members gathering place

I can't say welcome to everyone individually, it's a bit overwhelming at the moment and I'm feeling swamped ... so I will say it here since it seems to be a thread for all Gardeners World members :-

I just wanted to say thank you to GC for the welcome banner! It feels a bit like changing schools - we look for the familiar faces from our own cohort but will soon make new friends.

 

I’m surprised to hear that, I’ve not encountered any hostilities from GW members, I wonder if those posts were on an off topic area and away from the gardening chat?

From my years on that forum I’ve found them a lovely bunch of people, some with great gardening knowledge and always willing to help. Some have even sent me cuttings free of charge for me to grow on. I’m sure and hope that in the main you will find them a lovely and helpful bunch too.

 

Having found this thread I would like to take the opportunity of saying a big thank you to the staff and members here for accepting us from the defuncted GW. I would not be comfortable encroaching on anyone’s forum so if I do this please let me know.
I am looking forward to starting new and learning new tips for the garden as ,old as I am, we can all learn so learning every day.

A nice welcoming post made on another thread here from a GC moderator, giving details of other admin mods, thank you..

 

The forums don't 'belong' to any one, as in it's their personal property. Anyone can join in and is welcome to do so.

 

For anyone wanting to add an avatar to their GC profile, simply hover your cursor over your username in the top right corner of this forum and a drop down box will appear, click on Avatar and then you can upload your image..

Please no cliques .....thats why I and others left GW years back..just found it impossible to break through the ice barriers. No doubt it has changed in recent years so I look forward to reuniting and reconnecting with you all .

As pete has said this is not GW and it just seems like some are trying to set up a GW section.

Just join in with us and you will be received with open arms. GW is gone ...history.. time to move on.

Spring has sprung..well almost, so show us. your gardens .They are great ice breakers.

 

Not a GW section at all just a place for people to identify friends from the past as some usernames have had to change when joining here.

 

Ok good but we all found it pretty easy to 'find ' each other we we joined.

 

Can I just alter one word in that sentence @Upsydaisy the word "seems", should really be "seemed".
I misunderstood the reasoning behind the starting of this thread at first.

Don't worry, there won't be any cliques l'm sure. I think it's just we were all so blindsided by being told the forum was shutting down with a week's notice.

I'm sure you can imagine how you'd feel if you were told that GC was being closed in a week, no appeal, thanks very much, goodbye. Shut the door on your way out.

There was a great deal of upset yesterday and people who had relied on the forum for many years (for friendship as much as advice), were thinking they would lose touch.
Everyone at GC has been so friendly and welcoming, this is very much appreciated.

As the title says, this is just a gathering place so we can suss out how everything works and generally find our way around and settle in. This situation is very unusual, and everyone's been very supportive.
