Gardeners World forum members gathering place

Another GW refugee. After a horrid day yesterday, I’m feeling so happy to be joining this forum. Looking forward to help and advice from all the members here, although my contributions aren’t going to be very useful, as I’m a real amateur.
I shall add a picture and update my profile signature, once I’ve worked out how to do it. I’m a bit technically challenged as well!
I’m sure it must have been a shock to existing forum members to see the flood of applications! I do hope you won’t be worried that we are planning to form a clique. It’s just that after yesterday’s shock announcement, when we had been faced with the prospect of losing touch with ‘virtual ‘ friends, with just a weeks notice, it’s a comfort to see some recognisable names. I’m really looking forward to getting to know more of you.
It’s also reassuring to see the presence of moderators on line, I’m sure that’s going to be helpful.
It was lovely to see the welcome banner at the top of the forum!

Like Pete and CanadianLori, yesterday I was concerned about the initial post on this thread, a feeling that the intention was to start a GW mini forum within GC. With further explanation from the OP I'm happy that isn't the case and it's just a way of finding your fellow members from GW.

GC is a friendly place and the original members have integrated down the years, some taking their friendship beyond the forum - as has happened with GW members. Hopefully once you've settled in we can build on GC's now, newly extended family and make ongoing friendships, as well as interaction on the individual forums.

Our administration members are lovely, friendly people too. All are experienced members of GC and approachable for any problems you may have. I imagine they're working flat out at the moment helping you all settle in while keeping everything running smoothly here. Well done lads!

 

I have been a member of the GW Forum for several years and I don't think the problems of cliques, domination and condescending behaviour were any worse than many other forums I've been a member of. Certainly far less confrontational than places like FB. There were a few members with strong views on certain subjects who did go too far (in my view) in trying to force their opinions on others, but they genuinely were very few in number although vociferous. I really don't think there is any cause to panic.
From my experience, novice gardeners right through to those who are, or have been, professionally involved in horticulture were welcome there.

 

I can't speak for others but I'm looking for a new 'home' with all its own quirks, not a clone of GW.

 

Hi everyone! I've popped over from GW where I have been learning loads to improve my gardening skills
