How is it that people who ride lime bikes are able to just dump them in the middle of the pavement and walk away? How does the system work? Is there any comeback at all on the dumper or the company?

I couldn't agree more - the things are an absolute blight. My understanding is that their whole model is that you can hire a bike and ride it for the amount of time you've paid for, and just leave it wherever you are when the time ends. If it were anything else, folks would get done for fly-tipping.

We dont get them but we do get supermarket trollys scattered around.

Regarding the bikes, these people are being "green", just like we all should be.:roflol:

Think yourself lucky - those who are fanatics would have you believe that everything is all tidy little ranks like this:

            The reality, however is:
            And worse...

Hellish dangerous for anyone who is mobility of visually impaired.

Whenever I see them, they're usually lying on their side completely blocking the pavement.
Does the company drive around an pick them up from outlying areas or do they just lie there waiting for someone to ride and dump them elsewhere

How do they stop people just stealing them.
The youfs around here would have a field day, not to mention the scrappy.

They have vans that do go an relocate them, but they are only told to relocate specific bikes as far as I know, so something dumped in an outlying area can sit there for a long time. I live outside the London boundary and have seen quite a few dumped incredibly near the boundary.. I believe they are geo-fenced, so can't go beyond a certain area.

God knows - that is the bit I don't get, especially the scrappies.

Maybe that's what's happening. That's why the riders are too dazed to park them considerately

Mrs Shiney and myself have been with Flow, LV, Dial Direct and Darwin over the last few years. Each time, towards the end of the insurance, we get a renewal price that is considerably higher than we can get a new one from Confused.com so we switch. I'm sure the insurance companies offer a good price through Confused in the hope that you will renew automatically the following year.

I always ask for the same cover as we have had in previous years and keep a list of the cover that we want. That way it is always comparable. When Confused issue the table of quotes it has in the header the list of extras and you can see whether an insurance company is including it (it will have a tick in that box).
