Crafters Corner 2023/2024

Thank you @Victoria. We all have our own talents and you have produced some lovely crochet pieces.

Thank you too @SherwoodArrow, so lovely to see what you have made. I love the little bookshelf in your second but last picture.

You'll see @Jenny namaste's work here from time to time. I think she'll love your tea cosy.

 

We have some wonderful artists here on GC as well as members with other talents. Do any of you from GW have other art or craft talents you're willing to share with us please?

 

Gorgeous cross stitch irises @Sheal - such a lot of work. And love the crochet - especially the sheep @SherwoodArrow. I am in the middle of making a crochet blanket, and recognise that bobble stitch - I”ve never used it before this current project.

As well as crochet (a beginner, taught myself last year from a little book and you tube videos) I cross stitch and embroider. Also just starting out on a bit of patchwork and quilting.

I love looking at handmade crafts, I don't do much and what I do is fairly easy. I cross stitch and crochet.

A lovely assortment of pieces you've posted for us. I like the simple uniformity of the Alium and I love the pooches - is that a Schnauzer on the left?

I've only worked on cross stitch in recent years but have sewn tapestries in the past. I used to be a bobbin lacemaker years ago but my eyes aren't good enough for that now.

 

I like knitting socks - but got bored with just plain ones...

 

They're great Liriodendrun. I've never attempted socks.

 

Thanks, @Sheal . I get chilblains in cold weather, so hand knitted socks are ideal, having no seams to press on your toes.

My OH thinks the stripey pair are inappropriate for a sensible woman. So that's all right then...

 

I bet they keep your feet nice and warm.

Perhaps you should knit your other half a pair.

@Sheal I would love to be able to do bobbin lace its beautiful. Very envious of your skills. Have you got any pictures?

I really like your painting @Michael Hewett and your cross-stitch @Sheal. Those iris are stunning. @SherwoodArrow I really don't get crochet, especially amigurumi, but I like your tea cosy and sheep. @Chicky I love your bouquet.

I have done cross-stitch in the past and other "pictures" using an assortment of stitches but find the kits and patterns available now all far too twee for me. However, I belong to a needlecafts group which started as patchwork but now includes embroidery in all its forms so I'm learning classic European stitches. i'll dig out some photos later but, meanwhile, here's my latest handbag made using a Kawandi/Siddi technique

 

And a new kaleidoscope patchwork I've just done with batiks so I can teach a class in April.
