I ventured into the garden today mild weather, birds singing, heavy clay workable. A perfect day to do a spot of gardening? No!
I've accidentally trodden on several plants, broke a large section of stem off a young clematis and may have hoiked out what we're not weedlings.
Time to go inside before I do any more damage

I know it well, but soil here not workable until the 'tide' goes out. We are saturated

At least your plants are safe from well-intentioned damage for now. Look on the bright side @Angie Jones (nut)

They look reasonably safe there but I also managed to damage a few plants while slug hunting

This is probably the most disspiriting start to the year I have know, and I'm no youngster. It's impossible to do any work on the borders and the lawn is saturated. I'd look at repotting some of the hostas but as soon as I think about getting out there is starts raining again and I have nowhere with much cover.

I've just taken delivery of a 20 metre roll of copper tape to put round my pots. That, combined with a garlic spray, has certainly helped in the past.
