Hey GWer's perhaps you could let us know which thread is for the "Rezzers" group and we'll stay out of the way? That might work until everyone zippers in? It sounds like you genuinely would like a "green room" assimilation portal?
    Cheers ;)

@redstar GSDs are my "heart dog" breed, nothing quite like them and I've had some fabulous shepherds. But definitely these days especially it's a lot of work to bring on a big dog, and healthwise GSDs over here are not good....all of mine developed one problem or another....and don't even get me started on the poor conformation of so many!

@KayJ I have had Border Collies since I was in my 20's but I didn't get another one when Tigger died a few years ago. The earlier ones were more my 1st husband's but he died in 1998 and I carried on. I liked to have 2 at a time to keep each other company.

We moved to Dordogne in France in 1985 so there was a lot of countryside for them and I used to ride so the dogs would come with me. They were so easy to train and intelligent, beautiful to look at too. I had thought of having a cocker spaniel but I met 2nd OH and he lives in England. We've been together since 2010 and travelling for me wasn't easy with dogs and horses. Now I'm in my 70s and the animals have all died of old age, except my youngest mare who is now 25 and living with my daughter. Then there was Brexit and OH is limited to how long he can spend in France.

We went to the SM this morning then did gardening this afternoon. I planted 2 more roses and OH mowed.

My youngest sister adores GSD and is now on her fourth. They were called in order: Max; Diesel; Brodie and her latest youngster is Niko. She took them all to puppy training school to make sure that they were socialised both with other dogs and humans. Brodie was a sweetie. About the size of a Shetland pony (slight exaggeration there!) and he insisted on trying sitting on my knee when I used to go and visit. He was so gentle.

@CanadianLori does that mean you don't really want us in this thread and we should start our own? I was hoping we could just join in with you and we'd all get to know each other.

P1070008.JPG My last GSD was Ziggy, he was the gentlest boy imaginable, we have videos of him playing with my last border collie Willow when she was a pup, and Dazzle too. Sadly we lost him at only 9 to an abdominal lymphoma, though he had struggled with elbow dysplasia and later arthritis in his hips too. Fabulous boy!

Oooooh that came out a bit big!

Yes, I get it. Was able to get well breed ones, with straight backs. But cancer got both before 9 years old. Ages ago, on my dads farm, we had a GSD, not a perfect specimen, but none the less a GSD, he was the farm dog, very good with the animals. Dad fed him Gravy Train, garlic and some bacon grease, dog slept out in the barn on straw and a big rug. That was in Ohio, where winters can get below zero. The Vet advised us not to bring him inside. Anyway my point is that dog lived till he was 14 years old. He only got rabies shots.

That is a good age for a GSD @redstar.

I would love to post them. But its truly a pain to post any photos on this site. Usually I get "Too large" tossed back to me and I am suppose to fiddle with photo size, truly not in my wheelhouse. Other sites I am on pose no issues, and I can post from my cell phone to them. So the usual process here is ---send pic to my email, then download it, then get on the thread then pick the download, then again it could be too large. Sorry.

Do you use WhatsApp by any chance? If so, it has a feature where you can message things to yourself - if you do that with any images, it usually downsizes them and normally drops the downsized image into your gallery (if on Android) so you can upload the WhatsApp images to the site.

Remember that dog well, happy as can be on the farm, good with us kids. But not "socialized". So for his Vet visit to get just the rabies shot, he was taken into the back door, I muscled held his head away from the vet, the vet quickly gave him the shot and off we went back into the car --where he did not like it. Today, yes, my GSD are so socialized --they are better than children in any venue.
