B&Q operate like Amazon and eBay nowadays, market place. So, not all products are available for click & collect as they are sold by a third party.

I agree @pete - sometimes you must feel you can't open your mouth. I feel sorry for all the decent men out there. I'm not married any more, but I know my ex hubby is a good, decent man. I had to work with the boss's daughter when I went back to work in a place I'd given a very large part of my working life to. I'll say no more, but I retired early - largely because of her. Spoilt doesn't even begin to describe it.
@Fat Controller, I had a small problem with my car 18 months ago - long story. The recovery man was hopeless [should have been able to fix what was wrong as it was minor] and I got them to take it to my local garage, where they fixed it very easily. They wouldn't take anything for it - despite the fact they'd spent time sorting it, and checking it was sound. I got them some snacks and drinks when I went to the supermarket and they were thrilled, but I couldn't have just ignored their help. They're great blokes.
...and no, things aren't designed to last are they!

I apologise in advance for having a pre moan moan and not really relating to gardening. Has anyone had their car insurance renewal request yet? I haven't yet had mine but my brother was telling me yesterday that his has gone up by 80% since last year. I had heard rumblings on TV the other week. Just wondered if others had had similar experiences.

Mine is ludicrous now, but my daughter's is even worse, and her car is a small one, and we add my name to it to help lower it a bit. It's infuriating. We're just paying for all the uninsured drivers. I can't recall what it is, but it's certainly dearer than last year. Mine is end of January, so I always look around, but they're all much higher. Household insurance is end of Feb, but for once, the insurer I was with was still the best deal.

@fairygirl, I look around every year - dislike these automatic renewals. Brother is a bit of a dinosaur in that he does not have anything to do with technology - doesn't even possess a mobile phone - so his research is done through (you guessed it - me!) He has found a cheaper insurer but like many of us, he wonders where loyalty to a company gets you!

Whatever he does - tell him - do not, under any circumstances, use OneCall. Absolute crooks.
That problem I had with my car - I was with them. I won't go into detail about their behaviour, and I got off lightly, but I'm just glad I was only a mile away from home, and not half way up Scotland in a remote glen.
There's a Facebook page devoted to them, and what they're like. A friend told me about it, and she joined on my behalf. The comments are eye watering. :mute:

My car insurance renewal has come in at about £130 more than last year.
The usual excuses along with the fact I made a claim I had a windscreen repair last year.

Why do we spend thousands on insurance over a lifetime and then when you have the misfortune to make a claim they then use it as an excuse to charge more.

@pete it is beyond my mind to work than one out. On the other hand I've heard of people who won't make claims when they have had an accident for that very reason and prefer to just pay for any damage themselves. I can't get my head around that one either.

I renewed mine in October and nearly had heart failure - it went from circa £380 to £890; after a bit of hunting and haggling, I got it down to £760 and could do no better than that. I wouldn't mind, but I have 31 years NCD, have driven buses, coaches and lorries - aye, and motors with crash boxes on them too... (I'd love to see some of the young folks working in insurance drive something without a synchromesh :heehee:)

In fairness, my car is currently in the bodyshop, having been rear-ended, and the bill is something incredible. Essentially, my bumper had it's outer cover split/cracked, and the clips at the side busted, having been hit on the corner - initial estimate was £1800 and expected to take 2 days to do as the bumper comes from Volvo pre-painted. Car went in on Tuesday, they called Wednesday to say it was in the workshops but wouldn't be ready until middle of next week, so goodness knows what else they've discovered under the bumper cover that needs repairing, or indeed what the final bill will be.

I was speaking to the staff when I dropped it off, along with another guy that was there dropping his off (his was a lot worse than mine!) and they were saying that a lot of the bill nowadays can be due to the ADAS systems that cars legally have to be fitted with. So if your windscreen is busted, or the front grille where there are sensors and radar systems, once the bodywork is done the car often has to be trailered to a main dealer for the main dealer to calibrate the ADAS system, and that calibration process alone can cost hundreds. There was a case of a Subaru in Australia where a windscreen fitter got a fingerprint on one of the ADAS cameras, and Subaru quoted $10,000 to repair!

Give me a Ford Sierra any day of the week.

They're also saying the usual stuff about everything costing more because of Brexit, can't get parts etc, so that's the reason for everything going up. If you have the misfortune of having damage of any kind, it's even worse. 'Can't get the staff' or 'it's Wednesday' will be the next things to increase prices...

There was an item about it on J. Vine recently. A girl of 17 or 18 had passed her test and she got an old Mini - 2014 or 15, I think. Wasn't dear. Good choice you'd think. Her dad had phoned in to say the insurance was 9 grand.
9 grand!!! How can they possibly justify that? Where did she live - Brands Hatch or something?
I played the item back to my daughter - the look on her face!
