What are your 'happy flowers'?

Those petunia tidal wave red velour are stunning, what a beautiful shade of red. It looks like I don't have to have them hanging too. I wonder how long they bloom for. Erigeron karvinskianus / Mexican fleabane is extremely cute with the two shades of flower. I do love daisy-like flowers. I have some geranium in a blue colour similar to the rozanne, so that deep pink ann folkard could look lovely next to it where I have some space.
And might I say @BenCotto, what a handsome cat, he looks like a Maine Coon.

 

I've been looking up pansies and violas, Clare G, and they are happy with their little faces. Such a variety of shades too, which I think look good all mixed together. What a lovely doggie apprentice you have there, he looks like a relaxing influence.

 

English marigolds for me. Quite apart from being simple, bold and bright, they're also sentimental to me.

They used to grow at the edge of the cricket field that we would pass en route between our house and my nanna's when I was little. I would pick some for her as we walked past.

 

Ah they are lovely Clueless 1 v2. So simple. I love the orange centre matching the orange shade of the petals.

 

Some pansies can look a bit fed up too. They're the ones I like the best

 

Erigeron (hence the username), hardy geraniums. They just seem to liven up any grey space, pretty tough and don't really have an unsightly period, flower for ages, brighten up any areas.

 

On the GW forum Tidal Wave Red Velour almost had their own fan club. They’re unusual as, given something to climb through, and here it is a callicarpa, they’ll grow up rather than down. In the photo they grew upwards by 5’ and downwards by 18” giving a 6’ high blitz of velvety Venetian red from July to October.

Even better, put into a greenhouse or sheltered spot, they have a 50:50 chance of getting through winter. They’re also extremely easy to propagate by cuttings. In 2017 I bought six plants. I have never had to buy more and those original six must have yielded around 200 ‘offspring’.

Millie, a complete moggie, will be thrilled to think she is upgraded to pedigree status. She’s tiny, just over 2 kgs, and getting very frail through old age. She thanks you for your compliment.

 

The pink pansies are beautiful BB3, fed up in a cute way. I love that pink against the purple.

 

Just looked the erigeron, I love them, especially the azure fairy with the pink petals. Very tactile. I'm keen on long flowering periods.

 

I find hollyhocks really cheerful, too. They're so stately, bees love them and always come out covered in pollen, and they make the space feel bigger. Rust doesn't seem to be a particular problem here (or if it is, we havent had the weather conditions to encourage it). They seed themselves around.

 

Wow so it grows up and down, making a veritable wall. I love the sound of it keeping going such a long time from July to October. They sound easy to grow too, which is what I need.

Hollyhocks are a just lovely, they make me think of English cottage gardens, and anything for the bees is a good idea as far as I'm concerned. They could be nice towards the back of a flowerbed to give some height.

 

•Woody salvias because they're beautiful, hard as nails, long flowering and full of bees.
•Agapanthus because they're big, and blue, and I love blue flowers.
•Astrantia because they brighten up the shady bits and look like stars, and I like space.
•Penstemon because they're fat & flowery, and come in tons of flavours.
•Perennial phlox because they're big, they don't bat an eyelid at slugs munching their leaves, and the flowers smell like the seaside.
•Fuchsias because they're so diverse, and they go on and on until winter.
Gladioli cause they're so showy, but I don't grow them, nor freesias, which are my favourite cut flowers.

All of them do, but the ones above make me squeak excitedly when they come out.
