Thanks, I even got on the Deans List. There was no social life. I recall a couple guys trying to chat me up as I am walking between classes, and its like in my head, got to get home to sleep. They probably thought I was a snob. LOL. Hey, next buss.

Hello again. Those talking about a outside grill. We don't have one anymore now. Tossed it last year. Had one, but frankly I am tired of being the ONE who cleans it up all the time. SOMEONE else in the house can do it. So it sat covered, never got used, collected spider webs, etc. Finally I convinced the SOMEONE to toss it. And I don't miss it at all. If I want a steak or lamb chops I can French style it on the stove, comes out great. I do 99% of the cooking anyway. If I let the SOMEONE cook, the spatter is nuts, how stuff can spit so far from the stove is nuts. Maybe he does that on purpose. He does make his own breakfast though, not to bad at that. Ok, later.

Afternoon all. The weather here is absolutely foul here, so we have dawdled down to Ikea for a walk round in the dry! I came back yesterday from visiting the grandsons, but OH spent the weekend at home, so I thought it would be good to get him out for a few hours. Wasn’t planning to buy anything, apart from the coffee and cinnamon bun we are having now, but as usual, I’ve seen several things I didn’t know I needed!
The weekend was great fun, apart from the weather. We didn’t have snow, but nearly everything else thrown at us. A lot of standing around at the side of various pitches, but thankfully didn’t have to wade through too much mud. Lots of goals and tries scored, so I am a very proud granny!

Great news @Ergates. The man who taught P.E. at the school I taught in dreaded vociferous Mums. Dads. Grandmas and Grandads on the touch lines as they got really aggressive at times. The poor children would be mortified.

            Evening all,

I've managed to get medication, apparently it's a virus not an infection ( no idea the difference) but I've been given inhalers rather than antibiotics, and actually it's working quite fast, I feel a lot better already, although he's given me strong painkillers too.

Thank you for all your kind wishes. I'm starting to feel 'at home' here now, which I'm very glad about because the GW forum has been a constant in my up and down life the last 10 years. I haven't managed to find my way around any other threads yet though, but as I'm ill and the weather is rubbish I'm not doing much gardening either. I'm still not sure I want to stay in this house either, so I'm not investing too much in it yet either.

I can see the appeal of a big electric BBQ, all sat outside together, with plenty of space for everything on the grill, but it can be a lot of faffing about in many ways. And, yes, there's the cleaning issue.

Hope you can make life comfortable at home @Busy-Lizzie and get the problem resolved quickly too.

Have a nice evening all. I'm probably only going to move from end of the sofa to the other, so not like me, but I'm absolutely wiped out. I have been thinking about summer menu options... but that's about it.

Bacteria can reproduce itself, under their own steam, in a suitable environment often warm, damp and full of food; so inside humans works well. Antibiotics can knock it out.
Virus has to take over your cells to reproduce itself. Laughs at antibiotics; so treatment is often symptom management while your immune system deals with the problem. There are antiviral drugs, but side effects can be a problem so not usually a first choice.

Our electric barbecue isn’t very big, really. Circular, with temperature control. Not sure if I can say the brand - would that be advertising? Think of an ex boxer, that’s my clue :). Anyway, it comes out once in a while and is reasonably easy to clean, I’m pleased to say, and cooks the sausages steaks (or fish sometimes) and veg really well.
I do hope you start to feel better soon @Dordogne Damsel, but take care of yourself and don’t overdo things.

I am off now to get my brain in gear - I have a league quiz match tonight. After my rubbish night of little sleep I will probably nod off halfway through. Enjoy your evenings whatever you have planned. Catch up with you all tomorrow.

Goodness!! On the subject of BBQs - you lazy lot!!!

Barbecues are so much healthier and so much tastier. We use the cut branches of the grapevines pruned in winter, into reasonable lengths for summer barbecues.

Coming from the Southern Hemisphere barbecues are so easy. No scrubbing pots and pans for a start and the meat is better. This weekend will be duck breast on Saturday and lamb chops on Sunday. Salads. And a nice sticky dessert from the bakery!! (Washed down with a bit of ......)

We are meant to the going to the "Escale de Sète" on Friday but the weather - which being Holy Week - is as usual - terrible. Hope it clears up a bit. Probably light the fire this weekend as it has turned really cold. Now where did I put that bearskin rug.....?
