I can't understand why a program like that should be mentioned on the BBC news page especially next to articles about people with cancer.

A neighbour has seeded a large-ish area for grass in their driveway, but said driveway is also used by people to turn (large area) but they seem not to be able to drive on the seed area, it the same person doing it, why do people not care any more, but the worse bit is the person dosn't turn in the people driveway they are visiting and all the grass verge's are fenced off to stop people driving on their bit of grass :th scifD36: :rolleyespink:

I had the same problem @Jiffy which is partly the reason I had fencing and gates put up. I was gardening at the top of the drive one day and a large car backed in to turn. I thought it was someone coming to visit at first. The person in the passenger seat had the cheek to argue with me when I pointed out that I wasn't happy. The annoying thing was, just thirty feet away there was a junction that could have been used.

The other reason for the fencing/gates is to stop cattle and sheep coming in when they are herded to another area.

On Friday, I ordered some compost via Amazon for delivery on Sunday... purely because I am currently without a car as it is in the bodyshop and I am waiting on my larger delivery of compost/topsoil/manure, so only a couple of bags needed to keep me going for now.

Delivery didn't appear yesterday, and upon checking this morning, it stated that it was delayed and would now arrive Wednesday. Simply no good to me as I should (all things being equal) have my car back by then, so I cancelled the order. I then found some compost on Amazon that was being dispatched by Amazon themselves (so more chance of it arriving) to arrive tomorrow - better than a poke in the eye as a fall back and hopefully should arrive, rather than the one that has already let me down once, so I placed the order. Quite soon after, I got the dispatch notification, so all good.

Then, a couple of hours later, the doorbell went - DPD... with the compost that should have been delivered yesterday. If I want to continue with the cancellation, I will have to take the 120 litres of compost to a drop-off point and return it (still no car...) - so I guess I now have 240 litres of compost in addition to my main order. Oh well.

@Fat Controller have noticed this quite a bit, Amazon quotes for a few days delivery, then it arrives. Bought a big (100L) bag of pearlite (it'll last me 12 months) from Marshalls Garden (£32.98 inc del), they said it would take 5 or so days, but Royal Mail delivered it the next day. Think delivery times are so hit and miss, suppliers are trying to cover themselves.

It was the initial quote of Sunday delivery that made me buy it - just a real pain that they kept saying it would be delivered up to 9pm and only this morning shifted the goalposts. If something can't be delivered in a couple of days (especially a Sunday) that is completely understandable - but I would rather they were honest.

In fairness, I got no information from the folks I placed my bulk order with until I got to the checkout - once I had paid, they then said up to 10 working days.

It's very annoying when the info is misleading . With you on the Sunday delivery thing - I tend to forget they can often do deliveries then, but I'm fairly easy going regarding it, and don't expect that it'll happen.
It's when they dump parcels at the front door and then state they've left them 'in your porch' that gets me.
I don't have a porch - but they take a photo of the thing on the front doorstep, with the door in full view, and think no one will notice the 'lack of porch' around it !
I have to admit that I avoid Amazon if I possibly can, even if it's cheaper than other sources.

I have been boycotting Amazon since 2017. Amazingly, life is possible without Bezos.

I've been looking at a few old music videos from years ago and the camera pans around, zooms in and out, and you can see the whole thing.

When you look at modern ones the camera doesn't stay still for more than 2 seconds on any one image, its impossible to see the whole thing all at once, just little bits of the action at any one time.
Makes me want to turn off.

I only like old music anyway, to me modern music is just noise, and I hate it when you're in shops and they blast it over their speakers at you. It makes me want to get out of the shop and go without buying what I went in for.

Must admit I'm stuck in the 70s and 80s with a bit of the 60s.

Most modern music sounds like its being played on pots and pans and as for the vocals!!

@Fat Controller talking about compost, I purchased some bags of compressed compost at the local builders. The fellows there loaded the 5 bags in the back of my van for me. I had also purchased 5 bags of top soil for when I need to re-seed grass over an area in the yard. After carrying the top soil around to the back of the house, I noticed the grass alongside was started to "slip" so I decided to take the compost into the house, and through to the back door.

It was exhausting and I was thinking that I am starting to turn into a weak old lady. Lots of huffing and puffing!

After a lot of poking around to find the specs and to see if all this struggle was me or the bag's weight that caused me to struggle, I found out each package is 25 kilos, nearly half my weight.

My moan: Why the heck don't they also put the approximate weight of the bag on the package alongside the number of liters? I would have still bought it but might have used the wheelbarrow to shift it if I'd realized just how heavy it is!
