I too have been boycotting Amazon for a while. Not quite as long as you. Maybe since 2020 for me.

Surely after lifting them you know how heavy they are.
I use a barrow for all bags these days, its not just the weight its the route that I take, cant get them up on my shoulder any more.

I've always said that when the day comes that I can no longer lift a 70l bag of compost, hop! off down to the reservoir with a rope and some concrete blocks :roflol:

Do you know what I find funny about Amazon ? Look up Peyronie's Disease and the curve usually goes up ... just like their logo - naughty Lori... :heehee:

Having just lifted the box containing three bags of compost that were delivered yesterday, I completely agree @CanadianLori - also utterly perplexed as to why they would put them in a box. Today's delivery arrived as separate bags. Fair to say, I now have enough compost... and apparently my car is being delivered back today.

That is a wee bit extreme... besides, how would you lift the concrete blocks? ;)

Yes, I now have enough for this spring and summer - 600 liters of the stuff so I guess it was worth the struggle. And I got the whole lot at a special price. :blue thumb: oh wait, that's not a moan..

@noisette47 I'll just shift to 60litres and then 40 litres if necessary or get th eunder-gardener to help me shift them. I've recently bought some dumb-bells to add to my exercise routine to do at home when I finish physio for the new knees in a couple of weeks' time.

Planning to stay strong and flexible for a good while yet.

By the time I can no longer shift weighty stuff we'll either have moved to a smaller house and plot or the local stores will have cottoned on to the delights of customer delivery services.

Change of topic - American baking and dessert recipes!! Why are they so sweet?

I made some raspberry and white chocolate biscuits for Possum last night - her idea, not mine - so she could share them with the team at work. tried one with my post lunch tisane just now and could almost feel my teeth dissolving.

Note to self - halve the sugar content in future.

I have 380 litres in hand currently, 1000 litres more on the way, with 375 litres of top soil and 400 litres of horse shhhh... manure. I am going to be a busy boy!

With you on the reservoir/rope scenario @noisette47 , although for me, my daughters have been instructed to lay me down behind the car and put it in reverse...'help, help - there's been a terrible accident....':heehee:

I'm on borrowed time then! To get a 40l bag, I attach a hot water bottle to my lower back, proceed to Homebase, check the pile is tall enough so I can manoeuvre a bag onto one of the waist-height trolleys without bearing its weight, wiggle it from there into the car boot, drive home, wiggle it from the car boot onto a boot-height trolley table with wheels, roll it into the garage, push it off the table, lie down on the sofa till recovered! :dbgrtmb:
