Really wild winds here now, probably worse than forecast, some bright spells now the main belt of rain has cleared, for now.

We have had several showers and one very good downpour with more to come. Currently very gusty/breezy and 17c.

Apparently its Storm Nelson, named by the Spanish weather service.
Why they are naming a storm centred over northern France and the south of the UK is a mystery to me.

It's clearly shown up there first! And Trafalgar, of Nelson fame, is on the coast of Spain.

Winds of 200kph recorded on the Ile d'Yeu up the coast from here. A conifer wood has had nearly all the trunks snapped or twisted off. Impressive.

We’ve had thundery showers this afternoon. Guess who didn’t bring their coat from the car to work this morning (it was sunny at 0730) and then got caught out on the way home?

Horrendous, gusty winds and rain. Garden drains well but got seeds I need to plant, plants to split and it just isn't worth it today!

Breaking news, 1 April 2034: The United Kingdom is now officially geographically a rainforest after it was proven that it had rained constantly for 360 out of 365 days a year for the past 10 years.

Sad but true! If we don't get rain for two weeks when it's warm and sunny or windy and plants are growing (or trying to), the soil dries out like the sand at the top of a beach above high-tide level. And that's with 30 years of adding compost etc.
