We have many of these around us "cry babies we call them", have seen as many as 20+ circling way overhead, but normally only 3-4. Just wish they would be useful and get rid of a few squirrels... Amazing that we all get so many different birds.

I don't understand why buzzards make such a racket. Doesn't it warn off all the prey in the area?

I often wonder why we have never seen them hunt anything, perhaps they only get dead carrion?

Don’t think buzzards call when they’re hunting do they? ‘Ours’ call when wheeling high in the sky usually in some sort of conversation with a mate or offspring to parent. When I’ve seen buzzards hunt they usually do it when perched on a tree … spotting their prey and swooping down.

See them almost every day @Dovefromabove , but never hunting, have you seen them hunt?

On a route I travel fairly frequently I often see a buzzard on his regular perch of an old stag-headed oak by a stubble field … and then one day as I drove past I saw her? on the ground with a rabbit still twitching in her talons.

Other times on other journeys I’ve seen buzzards swoop down from a perch but of course I’ve missed seeing the outcome as I’ve been driving.

Managed to get a couple of shots of the Redpoll that's hanging out with all the Siskins.

I normally only see one nuthatch at a time on the feeders but today I saw two at the same time, sorry for unprofessional photo ... taken through my kitchen window!

Normal walk up "the big hill" today and spotted 4-5 buzzards. Not really unusual, but most often only 1-2. But these were patrolling/harrying a lone kite, first time ever I've seen one over our area, although I've been expecting to do so for quite some time.

Thanks @CatDouch. The first one was taken through the kitchen window so very pleased that one was clear.

Had a sparrowhawk hurtle through the garden this morning. Didn't see if it caught anything. 2 speckled wood butterflies dancing around together and quite a few bees buzzing around the different plants.

Haven't had a greenfinch at our feeders for years.
