I had a rather nice short rib a couple of days ago, cooked sous vide for a day then browned in the oven. Served with roasted veggies and I made some horseradish sauce. I forgot how much better homemade horseradish is than the jarred stuff. Used what was left with some salmon last night

Pudding is a slice of chocolate gateaux with chocolate ice cream and some whipped elmlee cream.

Wish I hadn’t looked in on this thread! My mouth is watering, and I’ve been trying to eat sensibly to shift some weight. I’ve just had a bowl of porridge with blueberries and a plum, should keep me going till a late lunch / early dinner.

@Victoria Haven't eaten KFC since 1981. My first and last Big Mac was in 1988 when I went to photograph the company's 5-a-side team. OH was away in Texas so I went out to play with our graduate intake.

Cooking today is a leek, broccoli and bacon frittata which will do use for several lunches with my big red salad and dinner will be salmon with new potatoes and lots of green veggies.

I have it here for lunch too. Tender Strips is white meat in a Tempura Batter, yum. I could go for one of those frittatas, mmm.

@Victoria I sometimes do chicken like that at home - so I know it's at least free range if not fully organic. Don't trust KFC to use well brought up chooks which have had a bit of a life.

                    Cakes!

Garden club plant fair on Saturday and I'm in charge of the cake stand so I'm making cakes the French haven't met. Yet.

So far I have coconut chai, German cherry with hazelnut flour, apricot and almond (no gluten), banana gingerbread and banana with coconut and pecans. Still to come are chocolate carrot, chocolate beetroot, vegan chocolate and almond, cheese and ham "loaf" and citrus coconut. Maybe some cheese and rosemary biscuits.

I've been out to play at a patchwork and similar arts exhibition and fair at Nantes. On the way home I called in at the Vietnamese store as i'm out of fresh ginger and their's is fresher than SM stuff.

Found two new things to try - Liseron d'eau which turns out to be an aquatic asiatic bindweed that is stir fried with garlic, chilli and a bit of fish sauce an dthe other is Job's tears which turns out to be a barley like grain but gluten free and The Next Big Thing set to oust quinoa according to google. That's all for tomorrow evening cos Friday is our fakeaway night.

Can only get pizza here and what they do to pizzas is just wrong.
