We have this growing two-thirds of the way down the garden, across uprights above head height.
My wife says it's Clematis Montana - but, is she correct?

if it is slightly scented @RowlandsCastle it could well be clematis montana Elizabeth.

There are many forms of montana and its form and flowering time are certainly what you'd expect.

I would say your wife is correct @RowlandsCastle, but then I expect that's always the case .

              Not always, @AnniD
But as my memory goes, it's becoming more often. Which is frustrating for me.

Not an easy day for taking photos, but once something catches my eye.

Stunning, @LunarSea, especially the anemone. It almost looks shy, peeping out of the foliage and then glancing down knowing its photo is being taken. :)

Many of the Montana varieties smell of vanilla. :)

Thankyou @ViewAhead. Yes I was busy weeding when I spotted that particular Anemone flower angled differently to all the others and almost begging to have it's photo taken.

Lonicera niteda. This will have amazing purple berries later on which the blackbirds will eat. 2024-04-07_10-05-37.jpg

They're fab. My son liked orange one year so we got some of these tulips and just shoved them in the lawn when they went over. They've been back every year since :dbgrtmb:
