What's looking good APRIL 2024

That peony is fabulous, @Sienna's Blossom.

Am pleased with this little Iberis sempervirons, variety Tahoe, which I started from a cutting last autumn. The parent plant has become a bit short of space, but knowing from experience they do not do well if moved, an offspring seemed a good solution.

 

Not especially spectacular just yet, but I'm very happy to see my Betula utilis jacquemontii produce catkins this year for the first time since I planted it 5 years ago.

 

I’ve got that iberis as well, @ViewAhead. I too have taken cuttings as the original plant is getting really wide. I like it because it flowers very early here. I wonder if it could take a hard prune…

 

It seems OK being pruned a bit, @pitter-patter. I probably wouldn't go too hard though. It does seem happiest just left alone to do its thing, but as you have back-up cuttings, you could be braver.

I've got some Iberis and for years I've just gone over it with shears just after the flowers finish, it keeps it low and compact.
