I don't mind the Badgers too much, with them and the Moles, I long ago gave up on having a decent lawn. Mine looks like a recreation of the Somme.

I’ve been digging over the veg patch and OH is cutting the grass (I won’t say ‘mowing the lawn’ … it gives a false impression :heehee:) in just over a year twitch has crept about three feet into the veg patch. Some of it us just too well rooted for me to dig out … OH says leave it for him (how wise was I to choose a younger Under Gardener second time around ;)) .., I’m concentrating on digging out the forgetmeots and cranesbill … but I’ve come in for a coffee and to let the robin have some worms without worrying about being stepped on.

Good afternoon everyone. I'll be off out to cut the grass and have a go at the compost bin in a bit. There are a few weeds and bluebells to pull too.

Oo @Ladybird4 - your lovely pic was only a tiny thumbnail on my screen but I could click to reveal.

Edit: phone in landscape showed it though!

I’ve been trying to help Hubby with sticks etc to have them ready for the wood heater. I managed a bin full before I ran out of puff. Nice in the sun for a change

A very good morning @PatE and all dropping by soon. 05:30 (BST) there was a torrential rainstorm here so that could have scuppered any gardening plans for some today. Still early though so fingers crossed for an improvement.

@shiney, bearing in mind our 'chat' about holidaying yesterday, I was taken back to many holidays the family had in Boot, Eskdale, as there was extensive coverage on Countryfile last night. We used to catch that little steam train featured at Dalegarth and one of my nephews got married in Boot and held his reception at The Hardknott Inn. Scariest drive of my life was driving down Hardknott Pass but you just have to do it don't you?

                    Good morning all :coffee1:
I hope every had a restful night. It’s 8C and breezy here in Norfolk and dry so far but the app says we have drizzle on the way and a damp day ahead.
We got quite a bit done outside yesterday so am quite pleased with that … and did I say that I’ve sown the runner bean seeds in looroll tubes and they’re by the big glass wall in the studio?
Son slept away last night and OH isn’t working today so we have a slower start to our day today. :)
@Ladybird4 I remember driving the Hard Knott Pass when WonkyWomble was naught but a nipper … as you say, it has to be done …

                      Morning all.

Big drop in the temperature forecast for today, down from 27C to 14C.

I'm a bit stiff after yesterday's efforts in the garden, think I'll give gardening a miss today.

Expecting a delivery from the big river company, a bistrot set table and 2 chairs to go in the gazebo.

@Ladybird4 I didn't see that programme. :noidea: When you did Hardknott Pass did you stop at the old Roman fort at the top of the pass? It was quite an interesting site.

If you go on the train again then there is a nice little walk from almost opposite the station that goes up to Stanley Ghyll Force which is a pretty waterfall.

I used to lead people on walking holidays in the Lakes and have a walk book on sale up there. All proceeds go to charity - almost everything we do is for charities.

@shiney, didn't stop at the Roman fort that time but visited it on a later date when I wasn't driving! I have visited the Stanley Ghyll Force several times as the place we hired for our family 'jolly' was just round the corner from there. The Stanley House. Happy days, though those wooden stretches were a bit slippery at times!

                            Good morning all.
I did watch Country file and very much enjoyed it.
I have only been to the Lake District once but loved the scenery. Other family members did climb Scafell Pike but I didn’t even consider it due to knee and back problems!!
I’m glad I got into the garden yesterday as today is very wet and windy.
                            Enjoy your day

I remember it before they put in some of the bridges and it could be treacherous then :rolleyespink:

There are lots of easy and very pretty walks up there.
