It all depends on the weather conditions.I would give it another couple of years I find it they are making good roots and spillage the flowers follow with abundance the year after.

Do you soak your bare root stock and tubers in water I have never soaked any tubers but on reading instructions that came with an order from FC it advised to soak Foxtail lilies tubers in water also Dahlia tubers .

This year I soaked two Dahlias plus the two of the 6 Foxtails in water for a few hours.

and what a difference it made to the tubers and also the quality of leaf , I'm still waiting for some of the unsoaked dahlias for any sign of leaf.

From now on its soaking for me.

I did soak one for a couple of days, when I found some active vibe weevil from a Melody Harmony plant that I grew last year...it didn't grow any faster for me, but at least the weevil drowned :)

I am very satisfied with everything from Farmer gracy and until any disappointments with the quality I shall keep them top of my list.

I sort of went mad and bought a good many tulips each was different some that didn't even look like a tulip , so many different I didn't know these existed.
          The same with the crocus,
Infact I bought so many different things I'd never heard of. The foxtail lilies are coming out at the moment and are absolutely gorgeous.

I was so happy with what I received I went a step further and bought Caladiums , one is already throwing up spruts.

The exotic calla type species I had never seen so I couldn't resist the bulb / tuber was massive and I cannot wait to see a pink type Calla (but not calla lily)

I've got the Dahlias to the stage of planting outside. Admitted some of the tubers were small but are making up for this already.

Now one thing I remember being told is that if a tuber breaks off you can't do anything with it well I was reluctant in disregarding the odd broken tuber. I planted it separately ...... and to my surprise now have extra plants . One tuber had broke it was one and half inches it has produced 3 seperate small dahlias and looks like this one little tuber is going to produce a decent plant

I'm also experimenting with bare root echinacea s that are making a good size plant.

I think you could say I'm well and truly hooked on what I've had from
          Farmer gracy:yes:

          :dig::sunflower:
And before anyone asks I'm not getting paid for advertising , I just go a bit mad at times .....this is one of them:rolleyespink::wub2:

I have found them very good with replacing or refunding any poor quality plants and most of the plants I bought a few weeks ago are showing signs of life. They are definitely a company I would use again.

I suppose one word of caution is required, alongside giving money to FG we should really look into local specialists that will be useful to survive as they have been at it sometimes for nearly a century and can be cheaper than buying directly from the Dutch. It's the same old supermarket effect, you only realise your local butcher closed when the nearest supermarket has been selling you horse meat :) please support UK based bulb suppliers or they will be gone.

I’ve bought a few things from FG, the quality has been ok-ish, but my last delivery will be the last order I get from them. The delivery got lost - Evri, who are ok with our normal driver, but utterly rubbish with anyone else, and arrived a week late… it was bare roots and most of them were dead or dying. That’s ok, a late delivery can happen, but - the customer service was awful, I was refunded for one item, when what I received was mostly rotting. I will not be getting anything else from them and I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.

I recently bought an Achillea bare root from FG which I potted up, but it seems to have disappeared. I haven't bothered complaining as it was half price and free p and p so I think only cost about £3 - I suppose I should really.

Yes I can agree on buying local if the items can be found. The ones I buy from FG are so different though if I go to the not so local places I I support them buying compost and other items . I do spend a lot on easier tooling etc and also the plants . With havìng over an acre of garden I cannot avoid being a local spender.
But one local nursery where I enquired about a particular plant they didn't have but guess where they could order it from? And charge me a lot extra!
It was clear they had an account with FC.
I'm afraid I don't call this supporting locally.

Another thing I must have been lucky because when I'm my excitement I forgot to put the free postage code .I emailed them and the next day my postage had been refunded.

Of course what I meant was British mail order companies for bulbs like HW Hyde and Son, Peter Nyssen, Boston Bulbs, Gee-Tee etc. not the local garden centre which most of the time will have an abysmal selection.

I did not understand your reference to local , this is how I see th e explanation of the word local.

The word local refers to something that exists in or around/belonging to the area where you live.
A few examples are the local accent :the unique way the people in a particular area pronounce words.
Local issues: matters specific to your region
Local newspaper : a publica tion serving a specific com!unity
Local Government:the governing body responsible for a particular area
Local phone calls : phone calls within a nearby area

Also if your lost .....ask a local.
