Point of order MeLud... only a court can impose a fine.

      upload_2024-4-16_16-11-53.png

Parking eye tried to fine us, we'd parked in the car park of a supermarket in Aberystwyth while we attended a funeral. The supermarket was closed for major refurbishment so we just assumed no one would mind as the car park was empty. We followed guidelines from MoneyMarket.com, and didn't acknowledge any correspondence. There's lots of info about such so called 'fines' on MoneyMarket. You need to hold your nerve though.

          New moan.

About 3 years ago my son decided he wanted to build a website. Great. Given my former career as a software developer and web dev, here's a great opportunity to guide him through all the shenanigans of selecting a hosting service, configuring emails and domains etc, and building, deploying and optimising a site. All good. All boxes ticked, we did all that. Great.

Then he lost interest. Fine. People's interests change, especially when you're a kid and you don't even really know enough yet to know what is interesting. But we didn't close down the site. At first because I thought he might come back to it one day, then because I sort of forgot about it. But today I decided even though it's only a few quid per month, it's better in my pocket than theirs seeing as we've given up on it. So I phoned to cancel.

To my surprise, I got through to a real human being pretty much straight away. He was polite and helpful too. I'd cleared security and was in my account in seconds. Then it comes to what exactly do I want. I'd like to close everything down. No fallout, we just don't use it. Oh dear, the super helpful person can't do that bit. He needs to transfer me to a special closures department. Remember they answered in seconds on the initial call so they're not overwhelmed with calls. How then was I on hold for a good half hour just to ask them to close the account.

Liz Truss is our MP in Norfolk and I met her a while ago at a dinner party. She was very ambitious and desperately wanted to be PM. She thought she had all the answers and could make the UK strong again. She didn't want to listen to anyone with a different point of view.

I suspect you spoke to the same person, but he had to change is hat first, different department etc etc.
There are certain procedures to be followed.

The procedure in question being, keep them on hold for ages and they might give up and just leave the account open, paying the monthly fees.

@Busy-Lizzie I can't decide if that's funny or sad about Liz Truss. Still dangerous either way.

I think @Obelix-Vendée that it was alarming. It was before she became the PM.

OH had the same problem @BobTG. His phone was also so old it wasn't picking up all his calls and messages - or so he said when he missed them. Anyway, he's bought a new one and, lo and behold, he can now use it indoors chez nous! We have very thick stone walls and with the old one he had to go out on the front doorstep or else up in the far corner of our office upstairs, near the roof, if he wanted a conversation.

Kier Starmer gave Liz Truss's book a plug in PM question time today, bearing in mind there is no such thing as bad publicity.

PMs question time, is there any point in this as its mostly about making a statement and sticking a question mark on the end of it in order to turn it into a question.

Total waste of time in my view.

                            Absolutely agree, @pete.

"Does my right honourable friend agree with me that the Cobblesworth Society for the Protection of Tsetse Flies made a great success of their annual three-legged 1/2 mile marathon last week and would he like to congratulate them for their commitment to the biodiversity of our insect life?" ... or similar! Hardly pressing qus of national interest. :th scifD36:

I just cant put up with all the snide remarks from all sides, they act like primary school children half the time, and we are voting for these people, or expected to.

I know its tradition but the times they say, Mr Speaker is also annoying.
I think we need to reinvent Guy Fawkes.
