Just watching the very moving installation of the Standing With Giants. 1475 silhouettes of soldiers, sailors and airmen, that have been placed overlooking Gold Beach in a wild flower meadow at Ver-sur-Mer, Normandy to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day.

Good Morning all you lovely people. First off, would like to thank you for your good wishes for my hubby. Your kind thoughts mean a lot :thanks:

Had a phone call from the hospital yesterday cancelling John's treatment today, reason being; a full body CT scan is needed for staging purposes before the treatment starts. We did have an appointment for a CT a week on Saturday at 6.30pm (shows how busy the scanners are). We should get a new appointment next week in time for next Friday. Not to worry, these things happen. TBH it's just as well as I was a bit worried seeing John woke yesterday with a sore throat and croaky voice.

I'm just about to order yet more compost from B&Q (3 x 50L bags for £15 Verve isn't too bad) to pick up shortly, it's easier to order it for pickup then I don't have to manoeuvre it from the back of the shop, and if someone there is feeling kind, they might load in the car. It's scary how much compost I'm going through, I've still got the hanging baskets and a few pots to fill.

Have a great day. It's POETS day for some.

@Jenny_Aster, little hiccups like that can make you a bit apprehensive but it does seem that they are looking after your OH so fingers crossed all progresses smoothly now.

No doubt about it, we've got no doubt John is being well looked after. It's a glitch, simply an administrative error. To be fair I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often considering how stretched the hospital is. While all the work the hospital is doing, they're also having to cope with the hospital being rebuilt around them, yet we've not heard one single moan nor seen a sour face.

            Morning all.

I'm glad John is being well looked after @Jenny_Aster. I hope his sore throat doesn't develop and the scan and treatment all goes well.

The pavers and gutters were delivered yesterday morning so we were able to go to the SM for the weekly shop before the garden club meeting.

The meeting was fun. There were 9 of us and we took it in turns to say what we grew last year and what we were going to grow this year. There was a lot of laughter. Then our hostess produced tea. There were sandwiches, a fruit loaf and 2 cakes, all delicious. After that we went out to look at her lovely garden. Her roses were in advance of mine, there were flowers out.

On the way home I stopped at the lovely little family run nursery in Aubeterre and bought some plants for the veg garden, such as cabbages, kale, chard and lettuces.

Today I hope to plant them, but first we must go to the DIY place for all the attachments for the gutters as they've just had a delivery.

I cannot fault the NHS @Jenny_Aster. When I was diagnosed with cancer in 2007 they looked after me so well I will be eternally grateful to them.

@Busy-Lizzie - living up to your name again! Pleased that you had such a nice time at the garden club. Is it a Castorama you go to? I remember spending happy times browsing in there when my sister was getting stuff for her caravan home so many years ago.

No, @Ladybird4, it's Bricomarché. Brico for bricolage which is DIY in French and marché for market. There isn't a Castorama here. Isn't that more for furniture?

                    Good morning all :coffee1:
I hope you all slept as well as I did. 9C overcast and breezy here in Norfolk and I think we can expect a dampish drive to south Lincs.
While we’re there I may pop into the splendid Waterside Nursery and take a leaf out of your book @Busy-Lizzie and get some veg plants. I know WonkyWomble has been growing some for me… but I probably have enough room for a few early salad plants before the tomatoes and squashes go out … hmmm

                      Good morning all.
Another dull damp day so I shall be on housework and laundry duties.
My sister’s garden centre is reducing all plants by 20% until the 23rd April. With that and her 10% loyalty discount I am sure I can find something to buy at the weekend.
                      Enjoy your day

We were looking for, and found, a wrench and a tap to replace one in the bathroom of the caravan. They did have some lovely patio furninture too. Sis's neighbour on the site plus brother-in-law got the job done in no time while sis and I drank G&T's and threw in the odd suggestion or six!

                          Morning all,

I'm back from town after doing a load of shopping and getting out before the rush hour. :phew: As it's going to be a wet day, it's trying to rain now, I have scheduled in lots of cooking.

I bought compost the other day, 6 x 70ltr bags with peat, and they loaded it into the boot. I now have to wait for one of our neighbours to unload it for us. :)

                          Have a good day

Good morning all. I've been dropping in, but in my usual manner, haven't had much to say.

I am encouraged by your general chatter and friendliness. I'm trying to look after my OH who is coughing like crazy - she says she caught it from me!!

Clearly she's not doing enough in the garden. I've got plenty of jobs lined up for her - which I will have to do.
                            And buy more lemons!!
